Fair points... Also worth noting that the likes of Rio, Terry, Gerrard, Cole, Lampard, Barry, etc may well retire from international football now. Not all of them (Pirlo looks a beast at 34) but some certainly will. I've not included Parker despite being the same age as some of the fore-mentioned because he doesn't have as many caps and will probably have a bit more hunger to carry on. Also, would others such as Carrick return to the England setup...?
Still quality though. Would loved to have seen him in the Premier League, especially with us. Obviously, he will retire in Italy now
Yeah,Pirlo stood out as the class act tonight,no surprises there.Always in space, rarely concedes possesion and his passing was sublime.
England miss a Lucas calibre player to constantly harass and win the ball back. The players were just walking around for most of the game, its not good enough.
Unfortunately, that is also Roy's style. The lack of pressing is what got on my nerves most when he was at Liverpool and you can't say he had not had time to implement it because we pressed the opposition prior to him arriving! He prefers to get man behind the ball and contain the opposition using player positioning. He complements this with counter-attacking football which usually requires pacey attacking players, we had Young, Milner, Gerrard, Welbeck, Carroll or Rooney, not exactly earth shatteringly quick counter-attackers are they...?
I'd like to see Roy try to fast a system that encorporates Rooney, Carroll and Welbeck. Maybe: --------------------Hart----------------- ---Johnson---Cahill------Terry---Baines--- -----------------Wilshere---------------- -------Gerrard-------------Rodwell------- -----------------Rooney----------------- -----------Carroll-------Welbeck--------- Let the full backs attack.
Looks like the Spain boss has put a Mafia hit out on Ronaldo. Spain boss Vicente Del Bosque says that they will make special plans to neutralise Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo in Wednesday's Euro 2012 semi-final. "We will be taking special care of Cristiano Ronaldo," he said. "It won't be an individual (marking) thing, there will be permanent help as there was two years ago (in the game between the sides in the World Cup)."
Listening to that BBC England Report makes me want to puke. England were appalling, no amount of hardwork (defensive hardwork maybe) and spirit will cover up poor performances and tactics. At least Alan Shearer doesnt buy into all this media cluster **** for Woy and defensive England
Keown saying that if England played a little but more adventurous they'd be like these two. After Mersons ****e earlier I'm starting to wonder what these arsenal boys were on in the eighties because I'm fairly sure it was laced with mercury.
Known has been talking ****e all night. At one point he said " I don't like to see, players making the meal of a challenge ". WTF . Anyway crap game
