H, going back to the water, are you drinking that as well as or instead of what you normally drink? As an example, if you have 5 caramel lattes a day and you then decide to drink 2 glasses of water, that would mean that you could have only 3 lattes, not 5. This will be different if you have to drink more to keep yourself hydrated.
i drink 2 litres of water (which i would never normally drink) and 3 or 4 cups of decaf tea/coffee every day...that's it. I'm not sure what you mean but i think i'm drinking a fair amount of water compared to what i would usually drink...i think! lol
Busy bee today, cycle to swimming pool (11 miles round trip) 1 mile swimming When I got back I even cut the grass, let the aches and pains begin I was even contemplating going to the golf range as well, but that might just be a little bit too much so I will save that till tomorrow.
wow Al, that's fantastic!! Good on you! When i've caught up on some of my missing sleep i might try and get some exercise in! lol
I am feeling it now H still needs must, got shift some weight before I see the consultant about my foot at the end of July! Being a shift worker I know all about lack of sleep, you can never get enough especially getting up at 0530 and then doing nights where you can get a cople of hours but is never enough and living on a building site is not good for sleeping when you get home! Still I should not have anymore night shifts till August as of next week I shall be Mon-Fri 8-5 ish
I managed to keep going down in the fields until 1.00pm, but after that the heat was too intense and I needed to come in and cool off. Still trying to get rid of the weight put on during the holiday. Why doesn't it come off as easily as it goes on?
I know this sounds a bit daft for someone who walked 17 miles on Saturday (H or Dan, please could you unsticky that thread?) but I'm unfit. Due to my epilepsy, I tend to just veg when I'm at home unless I have something to aim for like I did with the walk so I don't get overtired and put myself at greater risk. When I went to see my doc about something else yesterday, I spoke to him about this and I've been put on the States exercise referral programme. It was just the assessment this evening and it was a bit of a shock.
Baz, hands up I am unfit. I have made excuse after excuse over the last year, yes I have done bits and pieces but not enough and not enough intensity. I have been refferred to see an surgeon wrt to my foot which I have arthritis in the joint, but I need to lose weight, at least 2 stone to get to my fighting weight ideally more but one step at a time. Since her indoors started working in Paris as well I have become even more sedentary, which I did not think possible. But having looked in the mirror and had a proper look I for one do not like what I see, I used to be fit and if I can get close to what I could do I would more than happy. but arthritis restricts what I can do. I am going to give it a darn good go though My name is Al and I am unfit!
Well if you feel it it must be good! ..i'm still trying to shift mine..it's well and truly rammed stuck ....glad you're on days but i miss you on nights! lol that is the question i wish i had the answer to! Welcome Al What are you going to do to get fit?
I am going to continue on from this week, I will start using the gym at work next week, hopefully being able to make use of the swimming pool nearwhere I work in Bristol first thing in the morning (7-9). The only negative thing is carparking at work, if you get in too late there may not be a space which would be an issue to say the least I will start on my backward walking on the treadmill again as well the as the programme which was given to me to help strengthen the muscles around the knee! Somehow change my eating habits, cutting out crisps and sweeties (my downfall, just love the sugar burst from them) Eat more veggies and salads I can do it, it is just boring eating healthly
Im Daniel and im unfit!! I have a plan that i am going to do an extra class of training per week so that i am getting more exercise and it might shock my body a little. I have become so used to the Wednesday class that it has little effect on me. Plus i need to speed up the learning process if i am to get my black belt soon. Also when i have the money i AM going to get rid of my crappy old bike and get a new one which i can use!
that sounds fab! Backwards walking?? that's not easy! How long do you do that for? Eating healthy is very boring! lol...tell me about it, i've been at it since October..you'd think i'd be a waif but i haven't lost a thing since February so gutted...i need to change things but i don't know what to do next!
My legs are as strong as anything. I used to bike Everywhere; 3 miles to school, 3 miles back, 2 miles into town and 2 back. However, when i started uni and got me car that all changed.
You should try it H, it is very good for tightening the Glutes you put the treadmill on max height, turn round so your facing away from the controls and just start walking, only use low rates to begin with start off at level 2 - 2.5 when you get used to it up the level slowly. Start by walking backwards for 10 steps, turn and then forward for 20 steps (be very careful turning round as you could slip) increase the amount backwards as you feel more confident until you are ready to just go on and walk backwards for your entire tie on the treadmill. It is not the most natural to do and you will need to use the handrails as I still do, but after a few months of doing it regularly you will have buns of steel and could crack walnuts
Try introducing it into your current (if any) regime, you will see significant changes within 4-6 months but you must do it regularly to make any difference
okay, so if i walk for half an hour on the treadmill, i should start doing it for half an hour? (10 steps/20 steps) and on a high tilt?
That is if you can do it for that long, it is hard work and you do become slightly disorientated to begin with. Maybe start at half tilt till your confident to go higher. It will feel strange as everyone else will be looking forward and you will be facing away from them but if you can perservere you and your hubby will see the results
