Why would we not take up the option to sign Taiwo....

The agreement was with Milan - not Taiwo. He doesn't have to accept. He might have turned down contract offer.
Don't know what the terms were/are.
Don't know if there are other irons in the fire we don't know about.
Don't know about what may or may not have happened behind the scenes.

Be patient.....you'll find out everything come July - the Diakite deal being wrapped up was leaked a while ago, because of that picture, but the club is holding off announcing signings till July when the transfer market officially opens. (except for the frees we already have)

Saying that ive heard NOTHING anywhere on Taiwo either way.

Probably cost. I think they wanted around £4.5million. Hughes probably thinks money is best spent elsewhere and has other left backs in mind for cheaper i.e. Fabio (Loan) or that other guy we are being linked to for £2million.

I thought Milan were trying to use him in a player trade with Benfica, and if there is more money in it for him his agent would encourage him. I'd love to keep him. He's got SOUL.

Shame if we don't sign him, he was brilliant v Arsenal. Their little matchstick players just bounced off him.

If he preferred Benfica then he would knock us back and Milan would be free to do business with whoever they like.

Just asking page1000, how do you get to level 9 and 689 points with only one post?

I still think T 'n' T would work on the lefty, both like getting forward and both can defend, shame if we don't get him, I think it's a bit of a bargain, but not the end of the world if we don't.

PS.. I got a little excited there, thinking about next year and how I would setup the team, already having issues on how I would setup the team thats without any new signings.

a real shame if we don't get Taiwo, quality player and just loved to watch him play with that wide smile on his face. But we have to trist MH to get in the right players for the team, get him or not...

Very good at one on one defending and excellent crossing but he was very poor in the air and lack of compusre when under pressure in our half meant he would lump it aimlessly and give ball away when not always necessary.

I wont be too bothered if Hughes/Rigg think they can fnd a better option elsewhere

I remember we had an option on Diakite but don't remember the same on Taiwo.

Might be that we're just in the negotiating mix like everyone else.

Or I might just be completely wrong.....

....OK why didn't he take the option????

Yeh Nines, it is essentially what we will loose out on if Taiwo doesn't sign for us - the alternatives we are rumoured to be after don't have his size and strenth, and probably not his shooting power or enthusiasm either. For me we need 2 backs on either side, and one of these should be a big solid guy for when we come up against the likes of Stoke. I really hope Taiwo rejoins, but if not that we get in another solid replacement - we have Traore, we hope, who gives us the attacking and crossing options from left back.
