Observer Owl tweeted this about Bassini a little while ago: Yes, partial to the occasional 360 degree turn. Barred paper from ground last season. 24 hrs later lifted ban. Hadn't heard that one before?
There are reports around tonight suggesting that McGinn is on his way. Anyone have some firm information?
His contract expires on Saturday and he hasn't, as far as we're aware, signed a new one. I would say that was a reasonable conclusion to draw but there are players who are better (and fitter) than him who have come to the end of their contract and not found a new club, so I do think he is going elswhere, but I don't think it's in Scotland as he would've said about realising how much he missed Scotland while injured.
I've seen the McGinn to Cardiff in a few places now too, so look like that is going to happen! I'm actually not too bothered really... I'm sure Malky is offering him a decent contract, much more than us, and he has to look after his own interests - who's to say he'll come back from the injury anywhere near on form as he was before he was injured. A footballers career is short, and after the length of time out, he is only too well aware of that With the increased investment at the Red Dragons, a signing like this does surprise me, and if he doesn't hit the ground running, I think there may be questions asked! If this is the kind of signing MM is going for, I think it shows very little ambition! I have a feeling that if he stayed, he'd be given a lot more time from fans to get back up to speed.
Cardiff planning to steal players months in advance would be in keeping with their heritage. So I can't see it happening.
Cardiff already have 5 or 6 central midfielders..... I'm kind of wondering why McGinn would want to go when, with his time out of football, he's unlikely to be getting too much football. At Watford, especially with Deeney gone..... he would be likely to get far more games. It would depend on the owners and the manager.....but I'd find it a shame if he left for Cardiff. Even if he leaves at all.... we've nursed him back for over a year now.... some loyalty would be appreciated.
A lot of Cardiff fans don't rate Cowie. If it turns out that McGinn is going to do a Cowie, and someone held a gun to my head and forced me to take one of them back, taking consistency into account I would probably have Don.
I've heard McGinn to Cardiff too...and it'd really pee me off. What is wrong with MM?? Doesn't he have any scouts looking anywhere else? By all accounts, McGinn played really well at the end of the season for the developmental matches, was by far the best player on the Watford team. Another one we've let run to the end of his contract, nursed him back to health and let MM probably tap up over time. Just brilliant!
Really - the couple I know seemed happy with him but that was a few months ago when he first went and was fully fit. Probably like the rest of Cardiff's team his form tailed off at the end of the season...
Tommie Hoban‏@tommiehoban05 12 minute runs were an absoloute killer! Glad to get them done though! Now off till 9th!
It looks as if we are still in with a chance of Cat.1 status. Wayne Veysey‏@wayneveysey 11 remaining Cat 1 applicants will be audited from Sep - #afc, #lfc, #thfc, #avfc, #efc, #brfc, #bwfc, #ncfc, #wbafc, #watfordfc, #readingfc
I think that's positive news if they haven't looked at us yet! If/when the takeover happens, surely the new owners would make a push for Cat 1 status, and therefore hopefully invest additional funds to meet the criteria!
Watford Observer‏@Observer_Owl Still trying to find out where #WatfordFC's Stephen McGinn will be playing next season but we know for a fact it won't be at Cardiff City
Thanks for that. He's a talented young footballer who deserves to show off his talents where ever he likes. Without abuse from fans. It would have been devastating to see him leave for Cardiff, but its his choice. Lets hope he signs a new deal before the end of the week and we can see those awesome talents at the Vic.
How can they know for a fact? The only way we can be certain is if Stephen McGinn has already signed a contract. The only other way I'd be confident is if he has categorically ruled Cardiff out.
