This was during the Duffen/Bartlett cock up, can we not forgive him for looking after his own interests?? If he or his dad thought it was a mistake to come here, at the time the would have probably been right in hindsight.
Yes, but the problem with that is that that wasn't what they said. If at season end, when they were contacted by us, they had said "Sorry, but we think we can make it at a bigger club", no problem! Thank you very much, we move on! But THEY DIDN'T SAY THAT! I recall his father saying to the HDM when they went on holiday, "Hull City are still Fraizer's number one option", and that was a week before they flew home early to sign for Sunderland. The delay caused by being strung along for the U-21 Championships and the "Holiday" put us way behind schedule in that Summer's recruitment. THAT is where I have a problem with Fraizer Campbell.
you can look at it 2 ways, you can call- forgetting the way his link with us was handled etc, and the smug looks he gave us at the stadium of light having a short memory.. but you could also call forgetting the number of games he won single handedly at this level having a short memory too.. personally, give me the smug twat over mcleans "work rate" any day but agree its completely out the question anyway, talked of being involved in upcoming england squads...
I saw him mentioned as one of the new breed of players for England, so i can't see him signing for us unfortunately
No, neither can I he is premier league quality but I think he enjoyed playing here, will know the United lads presumably and has worked under Steve Bruce. Still cant see it happening
I wouldn't be sure about that. He's 25 in September so he's about 5 years older than them. He wouldn't have been in the same youth teams, and they weren't on the point of breaking into the reserves while he was there because he spent his last 3 seasons at Man U out on loan (Antwerp, us, and Spurs)
Could see that actually. Campbell one side, Sinclair the other. They've got cash since the deal for the Hoffenheim player has fallen through with Rodgers leaving.
We were mugs for believing that. I would suppose Heskey has his agent ringing round seeing if he can get a better deal.
Just a thought on the have Campbell back/don't have Campbell back theme, I think we only bought the same player twice, one time, that I can remember and that being Keith Edwards and if I remember right he was a success both times.
Heskey probably does, but he's not being a twat spouting a load of bollocks to the press in the mean time so if he goes elsewhere then it's fair dos.
Heskey has a reputation and people know how he plays/what you're going to get from him. At that time in 2008, in terms of the premiership, Fraizer Campbell was a relative unknown; therefore the media attention paid off for him.
I thought Deano we only bought back once even though he started with us, the others times were free's or loans I think. And yes he was a great success. ***an on the other hand, depending on who you believe, was or was not all that successful either time he was with us. I thought he put in a lot of effort for most of the time but didn't have a lot of skill, and yes we bought him twice, although the details are hazy.
Deano cost us £150k(+ add-on's) from Bradford and though I'm not sure what the deal was with North Ferriby, they definitely got something out of it, from memory it was a very small fee and large sell-on clause(They got a six-figure fee from the sell-on clause when he went to Aberdeen). And ***an's deals weren't hazy, he cost £150k from Colchester, then £750k from Derby(which rose to £1m when we were promoted, exactly the same as Derby paid us).
