I'm sorry but what a load of hypocritical rubbish from you. You say that you'd rather have a discussion with someone who has different views to you rather than listen to fans calling each other names. That's exactly what you do. E.g. you'll say jinks is tight fisted, he doesn't know what he's doing. He was over ruled by the board which is why we made the right decision in the end. Then someone will say, really Dai? I disagree but please explain why you think that and who told you. To which you typically would respond "You're an idiot and don't know anything about the Swans. You're blind to what's going on around you. I know high up people who tell me everything that goes on in the club. You don't and you're a plonker. - That is what I have seen to be a typical sort of 'debate' with Dai.

I of course agree it is your right as a human being to say and act like that if you wish but it is also my right to disagree with you and try and encourage you to be a bit more positive. But please don't object if someone gives it back to you once in a while. I sometimes do agree with you on footballing matters but more often than not when someone doesn't you resort to name calling.

Dai, please practise what you preach!

OK, I've just spent the last hour collating this info regarding stats for the last 10 seasons promoted teams. Points 1st are the points they got in their 1st season, Points 2nd are the points they got in the 2nd season. +/- is how their 2nd season points compared to the 1st:

    Some findings:

    • Out of 30 promoted teams, 17 Teams (57%) managed to make it past the first season
    • Out of those 17 teams, 7 teams (41%) achieved more points in their 2nd season
    • Out of those 17 teams, 9 teams (53%) achieved less points in their 2nd season
    • Out of those 17 teams, 1 team (6%) got the same points in both seasons.
    • Biggest increase in points between seasons was +19 (Newcastle 2011/12)
    • Biggest decrease in points between seasons was -19 (Reading 2007/08)

So looking at the statistics it shows that a higher percentage of teams achieve less points in their second season.
I still don't think it's enough to call it a 'syndrome' though.... it would only have taken a swing of 1 team to make it 50/50

    What do you think ?

I think you need to be one of these sports staticians stereo. Send your application in to Laudrup!

I don't think it's a syndrome or anything stupid. It all depends on the team and how they prepare. It seems stupid to say you're more likely to fail in your second season. You can say that it is possible that people will start to take Premier League football for granted and slack off a bit in the second season but the generalisation seems a bit bollocks to me.

Its a Meme thats seeped into the psychi of pundits, a stock response, an easy report, a game of two halves, it only takes a second to score a goal and Rooney is world class. Its Bulls balls........

......and it saves pundits the effort of original thought.

Rooney is the best of British which says a lot about the way we run the game in Britain. Rooney would not make the squad if there was a world team for sure, we need to learn from the germans who had a total overall of german football and its paying dividends, all of the home teams will never achieve anything the way things are with a good proportion of the best players in the world playing for top british clubs and denying british players from ever progressing, we have talent out there but there is nowhere for them to go other than unfancied premiership clubs where they will mostly be overlooked or the lower leagues. The football is fantastic to watch but with the amount of foreigners in the premiership it is detrimental to the home nations. Spain changed and they won the world cup and european cup and the the german league has now done the same with cutting down on foreign players..If we dont follow suit then there is no chance that any british team will ever win anything ever again...

Rooney's not even the best British player at Man Utd.

The usual response from the intellectually challenged with regards to the poor quality of domestically produced players is "Kick out the forriners innit". Of course, to any sensible person all this would achieve is to make it even easier for crap English/Welsh/Scottish players to play in the Premier League and earn millions for it. You can kiss goodbye to the kind of Champions League performance we've witnessed since 1999.

No. What must be done (and what the Spanish and Germans have spent a couple of decades doing - hence current performance) is restructure youth coaching completely. No more kids playing on full size pitches. No more emphasis on results rather than development. Let the natural talent grow rather than stifle it in an effort to maintain the "up and at 'em" approach that's served the British game so dismally over the last couple of generations. If the apples are rotten before even coming off the tree then having a barrel exclusively for them won't make them taste any sweeter.

Do that properly and there will be no need to restrict foreign players as the home grown ones will be good enough.

    Innit Dai?

Changing the mind set for youth development in the UK is mission Impossible, I've seen it first hand at club level, and schoolboys level, and while there's some hope for the English FA(Not much though), there is absolutely no hope for the Welsh FA. That reminds me, I'm hearing some rumours, and I hope they are not true, that Andy Legg is likely to get some coaching role at the Liberty, if that's so, you'll never see the youngsters coming through!.........<ok>

Andy legg is a good coach dragon imo, he would do well with us. kids dont play on full size pitches now the ones i watch. there is only one demise of british international football and that is too many foreign players playing at the top clubs over here. nothing else as germany and spain have realised and cut down on foreign players able to play in a game. they can have as many as they want but teams must play a certain amount of home players. we must do this as that is the only way british players will have a chance of playing for the big sides. Man utd do it to a certain degree but more needs to be done, it has nothing to do with what size pitch the kids play on if only a few make it to the big clubs and the rest are passed over due to foreign players...

Meant as a smile Musty. Just highlighting some of the things people say without thinking because its said so often by others.

I personally don't believe Rooney is world class, its usually the world class players around him that make him look good.

he was useless for england in the euros, infact England were pretty poor all the way through .....hodge is the right man for the job though after 44 days he somehow got them through the group stages. the gap is growing though between england and the top european sides....

After seeing how badly England coped against passing teams I reckon our Swans could give them a very good game. Nothing in there to frighten us, that's for sure.

What makes me boil are the presenters on Talk Sport. I listen most mornings and they keep banging on about the need to introduce a passing game into our domestic football and bemoan the fact that they have no one in the team that can pass the ball like the foreign teams.

Not one word have I heard about the Swans and what we are trying to do. Not a mention for Leon who passes the ball as well as anyone in Europe. Nothing about Dyer who would surely have performed better than Young and Milner. Now, I suppose someone somewhere on the station might have mentioned us but I haven't heard it yet.

I know one thing, though. Looking at England (and I was supporting them) floundering against a passing game gave me great heart for this coming season. If Laudrup can add some quality and take the guys on a stage further, we really do stand a chance of bettering last season and push for a top eight spot. That would put a few noses out of joint, eh?

There are no restrictions on non-EU foreign players in the Bundesliga. Obviously there are no restrictions on EU players either as that would contravene the law. La Liga teams can have up to three non-EU players. As with Germany, there are no restrictions on EU players.

Full of **** again Dai. What you know about football I could write on the back of a microbe.

I respond in kind Dai. Attempt to belittle everyone and claim you know more about football than they do (which you do in almost every post) and you can expect a little back when you're proven to be comprehensively wrong. Again.

If that upsets you then you should probably stop making stuff up on the internet.

Dai you always get my backing as you know, right or wrong your opinon is your opinion and your entitled to it,i support your right to it even if i dont agree with it. i am suprised at Lone for saying that but lets not make a mountain out of a mole hill here,im sure you can afford to let the odd comment slip now and again, there are many on here that do just that, lone rangel normally being one of them <ok>

Having an Opinion on here can often make us vulnerable to ridicule, i would much rather say what i think right or wrong than tip toe along the forum like some people do, better to be outspoken than to not speak at all,its what the forum is about! you stick to your guns dai, as you said yourself it doesnt matter what others think <ok>

I understand your gripe Lone, and your not alone (see what i did there?!) <laugh>

I dont agree with some stuff Dai says but i respect his viewpoint, its a two way street though and i can sometimes see why people get a bit irate, i do know that there is hardly ever any malice in the things he says, saying "i know more about football than you" is a comment that should really register very low in terms of upsetting fellow posters.

But there we go, each to their own, i have a beautiful loving relationship with Knackered Jack that bores the pants off everyone so i cant comment too much on the morals of what is acceptable and what is not.. <laugh>

Ivor been thinking that all last season, we can out pass the best in the Premiership, but with some added fire power up front, we'll be more than all right, hope we do put some more noses out of joint again this season!................ <cheers>

Dai you always get my support mate, and you always will, I have strong views on everyone being able to put their own opinions across without being ridiculed, won't change me on that, even though we don't agree on times Dai!................. <ok>

it does not matter what anyone's views are but nobody deserves abuse for having those views.that is what i want to see stopped as there is no need for it and i can understand why fans get fed up with the abusive nature to one another that they leave....we are down to about 6 regular posters now and i want more, i want the ones who read the posts everyday but cant be bothered to post incase they get abuse because of their views...its a shame as this could be a great meeting point for jacks all over the world. but if some fans only objective is to abuse fellow fans then what is the point....nobody on here gets the abuse i get so im trying to sort it before we are left on here with two or three posters and to me that is not a debate and opinions to a true level in any shape or form......by the way thank you to the ones who send me messages to say im right and i wont ever disclose who you are but im not being funny when i say this but why dont you post on here yourselves what your own opinions are....
