The first race of GPRO season 30 is tonight, so now is the time to sign up if you want to give it a go. The game doesn't take too much work to get into, and it can be really fun testing your managerial skills against players from all around the world.

As a brief introduction, GPRO is an F1 management game, where you hire and fire drivers, set the car up, decide on strategies, and generally are involved in most aspects of running a racing team. Do well, and you can win promotion to higher leagues, where the competition really starts to hot up. As a forum, not606 already have 6 or so competitors, with many having experience of the higher leagues, so if you don't know where to start, people here (and on our separate dedicated forum we can invite you to), will help you get to grips with the game, and you'll be coming up with your own strategies in no time.

The first race tonight is at Fuji speedway, with the qualifying deadline of 17:30 (UK time). If you just want to give the game a try and want a reference point, a decent strategy for tonight would either:
-Use Medium tyres, with 84 l of fuel onboard, to do a 2 stop strategy, or
-Use Soft tyres with 62l of fuel, giving you a 3 stop strategy.

If you need any help getting ready for the first race, then a PM to me, or most people who have posted before on this thread, and we should be able to sort you out.

    Good luck!

NB: If you don't manage to sign-up by tonights deadline for the first race, you can join the game at any time, and will just join the season a race or two in.

aw crap I totally forgot about this and had to re-activate my account again

    "Account activation was completed successfully!

You have now been placed on the waiting list, where you will wait for your account to be approved by the Administrators. Accounts are usually approved within a couple of hours, except during season breaks where it may take up to a few days."

"( After the next race, 871 free spots are expected to open )"
    45. Christian Parsa Today Waiting for approval

I guess I have to wait until next race. Good luck guys!

    Bump alert:

Chrispa, did you get back into the game in the end?

Also, if anyone new is interested in this game, let me, Mifune, ModestMatt or happyal know.

GPRO is an online racing management game, where you are in charge of the finances, set-up, strategy, hiring and firing drivers, and pretty much everything else that comes with running an F1 team. In the game you compete against other people in a league, with races run twice a week. There are multiple tiers to the leagues, so at the end of each season there is promotion or relegation to the leagues above or below.

As a forum, we've had some success in the game, several of our members have progressed out of the bottom leagues, and are making good progress in higher divisions. If you're interested in the game, we've got our own separate forum where we discuss the game, which you'd be welcome to join. Whilst most people starting the game start knowing nothing, we've already collected fairly extensive information on fuel loads, tyre degradation, etc, so we can give you a decent headstart which should give you a chance of promotion within your first couple of seasons!

If you want to know anything else, PM one of us or ask a question here, and we'll try to help you get started!

Only just seen this, sorry Spursguru. We've actually got a completely separate forum, over at notgpro.forumotion.co.uk. If you sign up there, hopefully Mifune will get your account approved (so you can actually see content) within the next few days (it'll help if you use your name on here). I'll add you as a friend on the game too.

If anyone else is interested in this game (which I apologise for repeatedly advertising), now is an ideal time to sign-up, as you've got a few races to get the hang of things before the new season starts. We've got several players with a few seasons worth of data, and spreadsheets we've produced to hopefully reduce the learning curve for anyone interested. The game has a league system, with 5 levels of leagues with promotion at the end of each season. We've already got several members in higher leagues, and hopefully a few more next season. With the information we've gathered from the game, anybody new should be able to challenge for promotion fairly quickly, possibly as soon as next season.

Anyone else interested in GPRO, let myself, Mifune, ModestMatt or Happyal know once you've signed up and we should be able to sort you out with any initial problems or questions, then get you access to our forum.

Also, has anyone from here recently signed up under the name 'Alan Morris'? Just curious really!

    Team Update:

Season 30 is complete, with success for the members of not606! Happyal has managed promotion to the Pro Leagues, whilst TheModestMatt has successfully retained in Amateur. He'll be joined in the Amateur leagues next season by Mifune and myself, who both managed promotion from Rookie.

If anyone else is interested in playing GPRO, an online F1 management game, then let one of us know! Over the last few seasons we've gathered a considerable amount of data, hints and tips, so that we could easily help anyone interested promote from the Rookie leagues to the more competitive Amateur within a season! The season has just ended, so now is the ideal time to sign up ready to try and promote next season.

    Yeap, we're still there.

I'm in the Pro league at the moment, and getting my arse kicked. Not looking like I'm going to score a point so I guess next season I will be back down to Amateur and rebuild.

Are you stil playing? It does take a little while to build up race wins etc. stick with it and you'll soon be winning races.

The race in a few hours will be my sixth, I didn't realise you couldn't renew your driver if he got above 89 in rookie so I've got a new driver to train up now :( Made sure I put him on a contract to finish the season <laugh>
Assuming this race isn't much worse than Valencia I should be good for strategy but I have gone quite conservative in the hope of sneaking a few points at the end by just being there in the mix rather than pushing for it all the way through.

    Bump time!

With 5 races left of this season, now is an ideal time to join GPRO, so you can get to grips with the game before going for promotion in a full season!

    What is GPRO?

Grand Prix Racing Online is a free web based motor sport management game, where you get to control and influence a team of your own. Starting out with a basic car you can try and win your way through to the top division to become the best manager and win the Elite group title.

Just like in Formula 1 or any motor sports, there will be many things you have to take care of, like hiring drivers and technical directors, setting up your car for qualification and races, managing staff and facilities, negotiating with sponsors and more besides.

There are 17 races per season, with two races per week, and you can spend as little as an hour per week managing your team. But as with most things, the more you put in, the more you will get out and that extra effort in selecting your driver or setting up your car could be the difference between Promotion and Relegation.

You will be able to watch the races live and chat with other managers in your group and other divisions, see how your driver performs in each race, and decide the best race strategy according to your driver stats and weather predictions. You can create teams with your friends or with people from across the world that you have never met before to compete in the teams championship. All this can be done with a simple browser from your home or work at any time! There is nothing to download at all.

On a forum level, we have several members who play, and have been promoted out of the rookie leagues into Amateur or higher. We've got several seasons experience, and can help you in many ways. If you want to figure things out for yourself, we can give pointers and tips, or if you want spreadsheets and data to help you with most elements of the game, we've got that too. You won't see the game discussed too often on this forum, as we have our own private forum we use for talking about the game, both to keep the data secret from other players, and to stop us annoying everyone else on here.

If you're interested, PM myself, Mifune, BLS, ModestMatt or Happyal.

Talking of data, I've got a bit of time on my hands so I'm trying to improve my main spreadsheet, slow going, but hopefully I can move away from using third party fuel data so much, because it's let me down a couple of times recently. I also did a comparison between a couple of my drivers, and it was interesting to see that the difference in how they looked after the tyres (when I'd removed all factors I could) was only 0.2km tyre life.
