You've stated that repeatedly, but you haven't given a single reason why, other than because of your faith.

That might be true if Islamic countries didn't have the same problems, but it's actually worse, if anything.
Forbidding pre-marital sex merely leads to early and unhappy marriage, in a lot of cases and the fallout where such taboos are broken can be catastrophic.
Education and a sensible approach to contraception are far more effective than a blanket ban.

The Quran says both that the previous scriptures are the word of god and that god's word cannot be changed.

Who's to say that he is either of those things?

The most obvious answer to that is this:
You claim that god wasn't created, yet I doubt that you'd claim that his existence lacks purpose.
He hasn't been given a calling or an aim, yet you believe that he exists and there's a point to that existence.
If he has self-determination, then why can't we?

For me, the purpose of life is whatever you choose to make it.
You assume a grand purpose, because that's what you've been taught.
If this is all some rehearsal for heaven, then what's the point in existing in heaven afterwards?
There's no role there that leads to another level of existence, is there, so what's the point in it?

 

And what about "So choose not friends from them till they forsake their homes in the way of Allah; if they turn back (to enmity) then take them and kill them wherever ye find them"? Or "And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter"?

You can't ignore the parts of a holy text that you don't want to. Like I said, these things are factually in the Qu'ran. There's good things too which promote peace and harmony ... but there's things which do that in the BNP charter too.

So why am I not allowed to mock the parts of your religion which promote things like this, just like I can mock the parts of the BNP's agenda which do the same?

Ammaar - we dont 'decide' when and what to do. The hukm is already in place. If anything you are sounding confused between Islam and western thought/rationalisation. islam is NOT a religion of peace in the sense you are applying. The prophet saw when he died had no food or money but had swords and spears and was prepared for attacks. We 'hate' for Allahs sake and 'love' for Allahs sake. thats the bottom line.
Remember the first part of teh shahadah is 'La Ila' which means 'no God' and teh second part meaning except Allah is only applicable if you truly explore the first bit. Once you have faith then the issues like homosexuality etc become clear. We hate homosexuality because Allah says so, simples. This is not the same as hating a gay individual.
The fact is Allahs law is supreme and not mans law. remember it is man who is saying to you that its ok to be gay as you cannot choose who you are attracted to, now apply that to *****phillia and the same man will tell you different. Now the same argument is void. This is the same man who believes anal sex between men is exceptable but made it illegal between a man and a woman. The same man who believes sex at 16 is ok but drinking has to be at 18.
A bit of advice my brother from another mother, dont judge by western rationalisation, including those who protest and shout 'death to this that and the other, judge by what Allah has said. I ask this question of most muslims 'If a man drew a picture of your mother in a direspectful way what would you do?' and 'if a soldier occupied your house and killed your brother what would you do?'' bearing in mind the love for the prophet should be more than your mother and Allah he says desire for yourself what you desire for your brother (and all muslims are brothers) the Ummah is one body.

1 - The 'enemies' of the prophet didnt hate him as much a speople think. They hated the message. This is apparent in the Quran and Hadiths. He was often used as judge in disputes etc because of his honesty and his nickname trnslates as the 'Trustworthy'. I dont know if you are aware of when he gathered the crowds and asked them what he would say/do if he told them there was a vast army approaching from behind the mountains? The respones was we would believe you and prepare for war. Then he mentioned Allah and they couldnt leave the religions of their forefathers

2 - I dont agree iwth you regarding the homosexuality issue. it IS homosexuality and its a sin. plain and simple. Yes we have to fight our desires, but that is no diference than commitng adultry etc. In fact Zina is one of the worst sins. The fact is homosexuality is hated.

The whole point was that it works both ways; you don't get to take bits out of context to make things look good, and then call people ignorant for taking bits out of context to make it look bad. If you want things which aren't taken out of context from that verse, sura an-Nisa also explicitly says that you're allowed to beat your wife as a last resort to her "rebelling".
