but even assuming Modric is going to leave, we still have Sandro, Parker, Livermore and Huddlestone who occupy the CM spot, in some way. (with Sandro and Huddlestone who do like to get forward.) - you could even class VDV as an attacking midfielder. how would it be any easier for him to get a game? you guys have Lucas, Spearing, Gerrard, Adam, Henderson and Aquilani. Even if Gerrard is your only out and out attacking midfielder like you say, and Sig couldn't get a starting place, he'd still be a great addition as Gerrard is getting older and is likely to start seeing injuries.
Can't believe Liverpool and Spurs are fighting over him. He's a decent player but not going to make an impact at either side in my opinion.
said something similar to PNP yesterday. if he's Niko's replacement, it seems odd. Niko was a good player who couldn't get a game, so how's it going to change with Sig? I have to agree with what's been said. He's not a modric replacement and it only makes sense if VDV is on his bike.
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11675/7842247/Van-der-Vaart-No-Hamburg-talks He's having a bit each way if you believe this.
That's my boss by the way ... the guy injecting all the money into HSV. He did the same just before VDV came to us and wanted at this time to bring him back, most of the HSV fans here are amazed at the price we got him for and are desperate for him to come back. The main reason I wouldn't be surprised if he came back to Germany is his missus. She has a TV show here and so they spend a good deal of time apart and let's be honest, would you rather have a short or long distance relationship with Sylvie? There were also rumours even before the HSV rumour that Schalke were in for him.
Good signing, I guess. I'd much rather hear something positive about Ade or another striker signing for us.
i dont know what to make of it either....he does not seem like a dynamic signing....we need someone with some 'umph'. id take it but im not excited. AVB speculation excites me more...Blanc for some reason does not. Leandro Damio(sp) ive never really been itching to sign him either for some reason.....the team needs a few fireworks to re ignite..last year Ade was the spark...lets get Higuain in as part of the Modric deal.
If there actually is any truth to this, then Huddlestone-Sandro-Sigurdsson is a pretty useful back-up group for Modric(or his replacement)-Parker-van der Vaart.
I'm very much looking forward to Huddlestone and Sandro pairing as an alternative to Modric and Parker. Sigurdsson is is good idea too I think, as we don't seem to have any backup for VDV in his role. Doesn't look good for Defoe though.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18599310? ...always seems a bit more official when you see it on the BBC Medical in the next 24 hours supposedly.
WOW! A "more lucrative package". There is a phrase i've heard many times before. However, i've never heard "more lucrative package being offered by Spurs" before I have seemingly slipped into an alternate dimension
I'm amazed at that too! with liverpool's record of spending over the last couple of years, i'm surprised we even got close financially. then again, they probably looked at the ridiculous mill's spent, and realised that something's gotta change.
Redknapp ran some of the lads to the ground..i think in an average season...Spurs play enough games or should be to keep most happy.
Lucrative package could mean anything.... the promise of exciting football the promise of not being forced to wear a white hooded robe etc etc...Levy is a shrewd basterd.
Less likely to have your house burgled while you are at training or playing a game could well be one of the bonuses offered.
