Probably also helps his family are in Cambridge, not that it's the only deciding factor as he was at everton and played in Scotland. But, why would he want to leave? This deal suits everyone

Completely agree with that. An attribute often overlooked when it comes to keepers but I think it's a great thing to have in his locker. That the difference between Ruddy and Forster. Ruddy's distribution is brilliant!

This is honestly the best NCFC news we've had all summer, so delighted.

Not even a solitary binner on here to comment, christ is must hurt them to see us nowadays.

Excellent News - that should keep Lambert's hands off - he can keep Given after his performance for the Irish at Euro 2012. All we need is for Holty to sign a new contract and get in a few new players

Absolutely first rate news - certainly 'torpedoes' the story in the Mirror last week (and rehashed by several other media sites) that he was a target for PL at Villa. I remember defending JR to a fellow season ticket holder just over a year ago after we had won promotion back to the Premier League and he was saying that he would rather FF came back - "No way" I said and he has had my vote in POTS for the last 2 seasons. I sit just just a few rows behind and almost in line with the right hand upright of the N&P goal, so get a good view of him in action and I have to say that his command of his area has improved greatly since coming to CR. <cheers>

If we can have a reasonably stable back 4 next season without the crop of injuries that befell us last year, I'm confident that our 'goals against' will be considerably than last year!!!

I wonder what other 'Good News' stories will come out this week!!!!

Look back at some of his performances last season and think about the points he won us. some of his performaces, especially against the big sides, were inspired. World class stops. Think Liverpool away, Spurs away etc.

Liverpool away was immense (also won me £40 at the bookies for a £5 stake!!!). I would add Swansea away in the dying minutes to that list.

I was a bit disappointed at some people's attitude towards Ruddy at the beginning of last season.not prepared to give him the chance. His performances have established him as the definite No2 in the whole of the Premiership.

good point by beefy about his distribution, and one which rarely gets mentioned, but with both hands and feet, he rarely fails to find a yellow shirt. might sound easy for a keeper but there aren't that many keepers who can distribute the ball so well. his kicking is always good and even joe hart has that as one of his few weaknesses.

A certain England No 2 under Hodgson.

Green and Butland are way below Ruddy.

Agreed. Although I do remember one game this season where it was off and the crowd, rather unfairly, got on his back. Quite unfair given how good it is otherwise.

You could well be right Guru.

It would take something immense to make me happier than this. England recognition leads to possible interest from other parties, and this sends out as big a 'hands off' notice as possible.

    Brilliant news!

Good point. Gunn was the undoubted King of distribution. One of the reasons we were a good side in the 80/90's was the way we countered with Gunny's distribution.

Completely agree, I said it earlier on in the thread that distribution is an under rated attribute for a keeper. Ruddy doesn't just have great distribution but good vision and urgency as well. Often he throws it quickly and precisely to Benno or Pilks on the wing where we start a counter attack. Great keeper who does seem to love it at City
