Difficult one this, there's no really stand-out contender as the best characters aren't sure of being first choice regulars. Perhaps we'll see a big signing who will fit the bill...
Agree, the few real leaders we have like Derry and Hill may not get a lot of playing time next year. Ali looks the best bet but prob not vocal enough.
Wouldn't be surprised if it's Hill, he's obviously got the team's respect as their Player-of-the-Year and unless a top centre-back is signed he would be a first-choice starter. Would certainly be a supporter's favourite...
We could really do with a central player to run things. Not sure we have that at the moment. Maybe there is a big signing on the way to fill a slot. Shame Chris Samba didn't make it here - could have been ideal to take that CB role and captaincy. Guess we'll have to wait and see...
Based on the (excellent) season ticket brochure where Ferdinand was featured alongside MH and TF I get the feeling the decision is already made. Everyone might not agree but we could do a lot worse and we should be ready to give him our full backing. As the back 4 finally settled down last season you could see him growing in confidence and consistency. He also is developing a great rapport with the crowd. It's hard for me to believe that some are suggesting Onohua who lacks both personality and presence IMO.
Anton as captain? Not perfect but, in the absence of a stand out candidate, wouldn't be a bad choice. Could grow into the role.
