Dai, why do you support the Swans as you see everything as being doomed for us? What about drumming up some positivity eh?

do everybody understand what these forums are about ? there are many who dont thats for sure.....Let me enlighten you incase you dont understand what a forum like his is for.....its all about views and opinions about football,... On here its about your views on the coming season about SWANSEA CITY, they are about me and my views or dragon and his views or valley and his views and every other swansea fan. If you dont understand that then this for is not for you and you need to find a forum where you can argue to your hearts content and throw as much abuse as you want to one another. I give my views and i also say why i have those views, you can agree and many do through the personal messages i get or you can disagree and say your own views. either way it dont matter as each to there own... Throwing abuse and calling fans names is pathetic and childish and not what this forum is about. I would rather have a discussion with someone who has different opinions to me than listen to fans calling other fans names because they dont like their views....If you cant debate like a mature person then go somewhere else as i want to talk football especially swansea city and everything to do with swansea city........next up will be the ones who ruin this forum you can bank on it....

I find I can have an adult conversation on here with our posters no problem.

If its ignorance and stupidity I'm after then I pop along to the Cardiff board.

Well said Dai, you can't call anyone names in the future now mind you !!

For what it's worth, I think the very idea of second season syndrome has no basis in fact. Even if it did exist, you wouldn't have to worry about it happening to you. The theory of such a syndrome was originally applied to clubs who had come close to but failed in their ambitions in their first season in a higher division. This, allegedly had the effect of de-motivating the team in the subsequent season.

Swansea's objective was to survive their first season, an objective they achieved and surpassed. Therefore, motivation will not be an issue.

With regard to being sussed, well yes you were sussed, but there is a vast difference between treams sussing you and actually being able to do anything about it. I think sometimes you underestimate the effect you had on the top flight. It was clear to all outsiders that you are more than a fleeting breath of fresh air. In fact, you looked like you had been there for ages and were now going about the business of changing the standard.

If your new man can adhere to the strong footballing ethic you have and then add just a bit of bite up front, I think you can legitimately set your sights higher than survival.

    Enjoy it.

because of changes in management again then i have set my sights at between 14-17th place and any higher would be a bonus imo. there will be a lot of pressure on laudrup having not played or managed in british football before let alone the premiership plus following on what we achieved last season. I will be happy with not finishing in the bottom 3 for his first season....

I'll go for 14th, said that for last season, so will accept this for the up and coming one. Then press on from their, after Laudrup has had a full season under his belt.

<applause>............ Excellent post, and the reason why I have us finishing this season between 10th and 7th, yes I know I'm being very optimistic in some eyes, but I base it on Clingo's points above, and a few others!.............. <cheers>

Yes, it was a good post, clingo. I think that most of us would take 17th in the table if it was offered now but hoping for much better like Dragon.

The way I see it is like this! Our Board and Chairman, where preparing for Rodgers exit, back in March of this year, that tells me they are now confident of handling the managerial merry-go-round well in advance, so that the damage is limited, and the club moves on and progress is not hindered. On top of this, they have clearly laid out their stall regarding the establishment of Swansea City FC in the Premiership, that was made obvious when Laudrup was installed. Now you don't bring in a manager like Laudrup, and not back him, yes Jenkins made his usual prudence speech, but you can bet your bottom dollar, that Laudrup will get at least the same support as Rodgers did, what's more we are even in a stronger financial position than when we won at Wembley, when the Board didn't even have the funds to pay the players bonuses, so I'm quietly very confident regarding this season!......... <cheers>
