John Terry racism trial legal team mull 'bad character' bid John Terry's legal team might make a bad character application against Anton Ferdinand during his racism trial, a court has heard. The ex-England captain, 31, will stand trial at Westminster Magistrates' Court in 9 July accused of a racially-aggravated public order offence. Mr Terry's barrister, George Carter-Stephenson QC, has now said he is considering making the application. Bad character applications are used to cast doubt on a witness's evidence. They're totally right too. Ferdinand's character can't be made to look any worse anyway. Hes already disgraced himself throughout this whole saga and I honestly hope Terry is exonerated because it will be a lesson learned to all players who think they can make a name for themselves by behaving like a spoiled brat on the Football Field.
What a ****, Id seriously cheer if he got run over by a bus. If they want to bring that up, Im sure AF team can have a long list to cast doubt on Terrys character.
I'm no legal eagle but this is so ridiculous that it's almost laughable. For a complaint made by the public in which he was seen, on camera, mouthing horrible racist slurs, they decide that the best thing that they can do is to try to discredit the victim as a bad character? Are these the same geniuses that so successfully got the gagging order in place about him getting Mrs Bridge up the Damian Duff? Perhaps I need to start charging people £100/hour and incompetently get guilty people sent down with that sort of crap defence strategy. Although perhaps they're Spurs fans or something.
My 1st thought is that they are so desperate that they are trying to get AF to pull out but i think hes too strong for that.
Perhaps they're trying to draw out the case for another 2 years to cement his place in the next World Cup.
From a brief study of the law (module part of a degree) I was under the impression that if you call someone's charactrer into doubt in court they were entitled to do the same to you. I have no doubt Anton has a few skeletons hanging in his closet but JT would have to have a whole hangar to keep his in. Fights in clubs, taxis, cheating with team-mates birds, cheating on his wife etc. If his legal team want to match that against Anton's potty mouth then it won't wash. The sooner this is done with the better.
But it doesnt matter, Ferdinand heard nothing and didnt bring the charges. All he has to say is that he didnt hear anything, that is backed up by him saying everything was ok to Terry after the game.
My position has been made clear time and again so I won't get into it now. Suffice to say, Ferdinand and his brother have made complete fools of themselves in relation to this. Doesn't matter how many times you tell people to do that, they still won't. The cowards way out is a route only you specialize in.
What the hell are you talking about? You know that Anton did not report the incident, right? You know that it was reported by a member of the public and that Ferdinand is simply a witness in the case? Unless your post is a deliberate wind-up, you're way wide of the mark here.

No but he could have drawn a line under it after the game if he had any sense, and dare I say it, any Footballing etiquette. We all know from our own days down the park what should be done if you have a bit of a barney with someone in the heat of battle. Shake hands afterwards and leave what happened on the field of play on the field. Although candidly I'm well aware of whats going on here.
