I only caught a bit of it, but it showed a clip of Heskey and Bruce at the KC on BBC news this morning.
Whys that then, Dropping down to the Championship will be good for him. He is exactly the player that was missing up front for us last season. He is great at holding up play and playing people in on goal. Great foil for Fryatt. He also pops up with some goals too.
Given his recent dire striking record, I was thinking the same, but when you think that Fryatt has even said in an interview that he loves having a target man alongside him, who better than Heskey? He might even pop up with a few goals every here and then. I'm fairly optimistic about Heskey signing.
Actually I think the correct phrase might be Marquee Signing! My youngest is now going to want "Ivanhoe" on his replica shirt!
Don't get me wrong, it will be great to see him in a City shirt, but he can't run, he can't score so therefore he seems pretty pointless to me
He's a big name player, for sure. But I struggle to understand how averaging 1 goal a season in the PL translates to 15 in the Championship (I'm sure someone posted that as a serious possibility a while back). He'll win headers and rough defenders up, but I think that'll be about it. He won't play 90 mins often either. Otherwise...GET IN THERE!
I think you've looked at it wrong lol. He won't be signed to run, but he'll be a threat from set pieces and will create many goals and allow us to actually keep possession in their half when we hit it long.
Koren set up many chances for fryatt last season and he just tried to take the keeper on 70% of the time and he must have only scored 20% of his chances. Also, I wouldn't go to Hull City matches if they played Wet Spam style Hoof Ball, I would rather get a quick, small player who can score rather than a 33 year old Premier League reject - it didn't work for Donny with Diouf did it.
Could Dean Windass run in 2008? Could Grant Holt run last season? Can Kevin Davis run? Also, if you cannot score against Premiership defences does that then mean you won't be able to score against Championship defences? Also, what position was Heskey playing at Villa last season? The truth is nobody knows how Heskey will do for us, but he is a quality player at this level so lets wait and see. At the very least, as I said, he and Bruce should be able to attract better quality players to HCFC and should persude our quality youngsters that it is worth sticking around at the KC.
Whatever anyone thinks of him now, let him prove it on the pitch. (though I did say the same about adebola)
Diouf was Doncasters best player. It was more to do with how they started the season, selling Billy Sharp and the team around Diouf! Heskey will be brilliant, his hold up play will assist in adding to Fryatts goal tally.
I disagree, Koren is a totally different player as we don't play the Goal Kick's to him to hold up and lay off. Heskey would be that player. And Diouf I thought was Donny's best player at the KC last year.
Yeah good point, they were a ****ing great side. Nah, in all honesty I think Heskey will be ok, but I won't blow smoke up his arse and pretend he's gonna be life changing. He also won't score many.
I really hope that we get him. He is the most under-rated England player of the last generation. Completely selfless, and does so much for the team. He would be a brilliant signing for us.
