We didn't lack passion. We lacked quality in possession.

Btw Germany will destroy Italy - trust me Italy are a poor side and England are even worse - too many foreign players. But no I am not aloud to say that - it is so the olden days - **** OFF its true.

One player I've been impressed by in this tournament is Cabaye at Newcastle. In a bad team he's fought his corner and looked a goal threat. Good player.

I do too. He'd benefit from being a star at Newcastle as opposed to a high paid mercenary at City

I don't know where anyone got this 'Italy could have hammered us' bollocks from.

Granted we tired and tired horrendously 2nd half but Italy did nothing with the ball and like RV I think the super powerful Germans will steamroller them.

I admire Hodgson and we installed some much-needed basics back into the squad including pride and passion.

Unfortunately the fitness didnt hold up, which is disgraceful.

Rooney is not the force of 2004- the pace has gone, so we were pretty toothless in attack.

Its not the manager though, he has got us on the right tracks. What we need now is a 25 year grass-roots plan to teach our kids how to keep possession and use it efficiently.

I hope Roy gets the respect he deserves.

Top class, they had 20 odd chanceces. Hit the post twice. Had at least two chances that were clear cut goal opportunities. You must have watched the game with rose tinted specs on mate. We were dreadful, they were marginally better and created far more chances. For me that sums up the game.

That assessment of Rooney is clearly from someone who doesn't watch him week in week out.

I hope you do not feel the same way about Welbeck <laugh> ;) - saying that big Andy Carroll was not much better

Well he's not lost his pace has he. He's never been fast or slow. Welbeck will improve for this but if anyone expected a goalscorer from him they are sadly mistaken as any match going red will tell you. He's a good youngster but no where near prolific.

Quele-Wayne is excellent for Utd but his pace has long gone. If you can find me any example from this Premier League season where he takes a player on and leaves them for dead il be amazed.

Italy hit the post with two flukey shots mate FFS. They had maybe 3 clear cut chances.

We had 2 very good chances.

They had a lot of the ball, but not a lot with it.
