Sowwy Woy you got them all wrong! Terrible tactics against a very mediocre team. Having our midfield sitting on top of our defence was doubly ****e. We got away with it first half but it was clearly not working. It meant our two forwards were running about trying to defend high up the pitch chasing lost causes and were exhausted by the time we had the ball. Gerrard should have been up with the strikers not defending our penalty area. The passing and moving game we want to see, can't be played with everyone **** scared to move from the edge of our penalty area. Even when the strikers managed to hold the ball up the support took for ever to get to them. Welbeck decided to take the night off, no surprise he was took off. Young was as good as a man off. (A left winger that wont play on the wing??????) When it looked like Walcott was coming on I cheered expecting it to be Young took off! How the hell Young was still there to fail with his penalty is beyond me. Did Hodgson see Young doing something I missed? WTF is with the passing back to Hart when we were already in the Italian half? Then to have Hart lump it up to the Italians? Yeah I was hoping we would take it on penalties, we wouldn't have deserved it mind!
Too defensive mate too scared of the Italians. Young and Rooney should have got the hook after an hour both had poor games, never mind the World Cup beckons
Why didn't Walcott start instead of young especially after Sweden scoring 1 making 1 generally scaring oppsition defences, how many times did young try to go down the wings not enough for a winger. Even with young starting he should've been off at half time for having a stinker
This could have been our best chance in years, the other teams aren't all that clever, even the Germans look very vulnerable. To play so defensively beggers belief! IMHO Young was just dreadful, he only makes an effort when the ball is played to his feet. He just wouldn't make an effort to make himself available and kept drifting inside which left no width. Not defending Rooney but at least he was making an effort, but he clearly wasn't fully match fit. It didn't help all he had to work with was hit and hope balls and he was having to chase the Italians down. (That should be the midfielders job!) Carol should have been on from the start.
