i thought Sessegnon was more of a right winger/ forward? Not a modric replacement at all for me. good player, but at 28, why have we only just seen his quality over the last year or so?

Not a "progressive" signing, IMO. - and one that could potentially come with an inflated price due to the prem club -prem club transfer.

have you guys seen the rumour here?

    http://harry-hotspur.com/2012/06/gylfi-sigurdsson-has-signed-says-doctor/?

one guy is claiming that he's seen him having a medical, and one of the people who's commented has said that the news was going round his home town in iceland 5 days ago. supposedly coming from sigurdsson's own family.

Now pinch of salt and all that, that but I'm struggling to wonder where he's going to fit in, without ending up being a bit of a "pienaar".??

Filling the Kranjcar-shaped gap on our bench? Replacing Pienaar?

Surely after the season he's just had, he's going to cost about 10 mill+ as he's only 22. Would seem like a waste of our transfer budget to me at that sort of money.

I think that the suggested fee's £8m, Roo.
    Kranjcar plus a few, basically.

I still expect him to join Liverpool, to be honest.

And he's worth that, but it's just a bit bizarre to me.

Liverpool would make sense. Hopefully that'll be the case and the 8mill can be used where we desperately need it.

Surely Sigurdsson will force Huddlestone further away from a starting berth? Shame, I've always liked the Hudd, just been unlucky with injuries.

Oh God, who else heard Steve Wilson say Gerrard is England's Pirlo?

Hudds probably threw something at his TV for that - partly for being a ludicrous statement, and partly because Hudds is the closest English player to Pirlo in style of play.

If Modric goes a midfield three of Sandro, Huddlestone and Sigurdsson might work quite well

I don't see us signing players without a manager! Apart from Vertonghen that is...

marca is suggesting that we're wanting Sahin, Calvalho + 25 mill for Modric.

Whilst I am a fan of Carvalho (he, along with Makalele/Essien, is the player who made Terry look good), I can't see why we'd need to bring him in unless we're having a major cull of defenders - and I mean King and Gallas following Nelsen out the door.

no idea dona. but he's another one of these players who can be added to the list of "strange german but not german, but something to do with germany and another country" type of players.

Mario Gomez. - definitely not a german name. - Spanish Dad.
Sami Khedira - definitely not a german name - Tunisian Dad.
Lucas Podolski - Born in Poland, parents are from poland... but actually plays for germany
Kev Prince Boateng - Born in germany, but plays for Ghana.
Nuri Sahin - born in germany but plays for Turkey
    Miroslav Klose - see Podolski
Asamoah - remember him? born in Ghana....family emigrated to germany

    all very odd.

Highly rated Real Madrid midfielder - found this on http://www.turkish-football.com/news_read.php?id=2629

Sahin despite only being 23 has been tipped as one of the top young talents in world football, he made his debut for Borussia Dortmund aged just 16, becoming the youngest player to appear in the Bundesliga. Since then he has won the Dutch cup with Feyenoord, led the Turkish U17 national team to become UEFA European U17 Championships, helped Turkey reach the semi finals in the U-17 world cup and won the Bundesliga with Dortmund last year.

Sahin is a talented left footed playmaker, he is an exceptional short and long passer of the ball and is known for his vision in spotting dangerous runs being made. He posses wonderful creativity and can pinpoint passes and crosses causing opposition defenses all sorts of problems. Sahin reads the game well and helps the team transition from defense to attack well. One of his key strengths is his shot taking ability which he uses to great effect in open play and free kicks.
