Who would you like to see at your club? I reckon Steven Naismith, Steve "slightly less interesting" Davis and Allan McGregor could do a job in the EPL. The likes of Lafferty, Aluko, Edu, Wallace and Goian could do a job in the Championship or SPL. Certainly a few good bargains to be had.
McGregor as well Rebel? I'd have thought he could do a decent reasonable job for a mid table premiership side and a very, very good job for a championship side.
I would have said so a couple of years ago but the amount of times I have heard "An uncharacteristic error from McGregor"it makes me wonder how many times I have to hear it before it becomes a characteristic error. It may be that a new challenge would reinvigorate him and I did toy with adding him to the list but over the last while he hasn't been as good as his reputation. There are other players who played for Rangers who are "Rangers type players". They just fitted the mould and did a good job for them but you wouldn't rate them.
McGregor, Davis, Naismith, Bocanegra, Wallace, Goian could all do well in the EPL. Understandable that these guys will move on. Hoping we can hold on to the younger players.
Indeed. Even Steven Whittaker said in his press release: "it's purely a footballing decision. It's a new company. There's no history there."
Considering Rangers paid Naismith a fortune to sit on the sidelines injured half the time you would think he would have had a bit of loyalty.
As much as I disliked Whittaker as a player for Rangers at least he was a stand up guy and stayed until the bitter end and won't buy into this bullshit charade of collective self delusion.
You really think that all those players are gonna drop down leagues? I don't. Fully understand that a few players will stay, perhaps the young guys, but the majority will move on and good luck to all of them. Bit surprised McCabe is looking out, looked good but only had a handful of games
If someone was giving you 20k a week just to turn up at Murray Park and avail of brilliant medical treatmefor an injury would you not have a sense of loyalty, regardless of the division you were playing in? Football agents are dirty bastards.
But if Rangers are to drop down the leagues and get their finances in order the top earners will have to move on and from a players perspective it would be unreasonable to ask a load of international players to reduce their wages and play for possibly 3 seasons in the lower leagues. It would be a good opportunity for the younger players to establish themselves but I'm guessing their agents will be trying to force moves.
I understand what you are saying Medro but the contracts would have had to, by law, been the same as they are now. If Green or whoever asked them to sign reduced terms then they could have asked for a transfer and got the club a much needed few quid. What's the chances the agents have been in contact with clubs down south since the players took wage cuts?
What kind of fantasy land is this conversation happening in. If My aunt had baws she's be my uncle. Rangers do not exist. These players owe the new club nothing. What are they even called?
Juve kept their top players when they got dunted down the leagues and we are talking about Buffon and Del Piero here not Naismith and Shagger.
