What do we all think. He's a good player if he's in the right mood but is he a genius as the media try to make out?

He's good but not as good as he or anyone else seems to think, not sure he's good enough for city to be honest.

He's a very talented player, especially considering his age, but he's an idiot. If he can play as well as he does (13 goals in 23 games, several a sub, for Man City) being a young moron, imagine how good he could be if his head was screwed on properly. There are some games where he's appalling but some games where he's brilliant, it's difficult.

He is a dangerous player because no one knows what to expect. This can be harder to defend against. Let's hope he fouls an England player in the box...result = red card and penalty. I can dream, cant I? :cheesy:

    Compared to previous genius players of years gone by;
    Gazza
    Cantona
    Le Tissier etc

Balotelli is nowhere near players of that ilk. These guys had natural ability which would make you watch in awe.

He is a character, love him or hate him and a very good footballer, but that behavior far outweighs his ability on the pitch.
In the words of python, he is not the messiah just a very naughty boy.

Now watch him knock out England lol

Good player, nothing special. Think he just stood out in Italy for the obvious reason that he is black and a bit of a baby. Wonder how much hype there would have been had he looked like Paul Scholes. Also, all that business about giving homeless people money on random nights out and so forth... big wow, he's a multi-millionaire ffs!!

Good yes, genius no. Cruyff was a genius, Maradonna was a genius, Cantona was a genius, Le Tiss was a genius, Messi is a genius. Balotelli isn't of that ilk.

Decent player but its all about his age. He could be one of the best strikers in the world in a few years if he actually tries

The premier league needs more eccentric characters like him.

And I mean eccentric in a (most of the time) harmless way, rather than eccentric in a Joey Barton way.

Balotelli has huge potential, if he can sort out his attitude he will one of the best players in the world in the future.

Why are you comparing Balotelli to them? He's 21 years old..he has plenty of time to develop. He is a fantastic player for his age. He has potential to be great

Yep. He's a character. I'm not sure he's a model for young people to follow. In fact, I'm certain of it. On the one side, he's an attention seeker, with his Why Always Me..? T-shirt, under his kit, and then we hear of his giving £1K to a homeless person, just because he could. He also dressed up as Father Christmas and distributed money to passers-by. There's also the time when the Police stopped him [he is black, after all, and I'm being ironic here], and before the officers asked him his name they asked him to empty his pockets, and in a back one there was £5K. Further playing into his hands, they asked why he was carrying that much cash. He replied... Cause I'm rich, or words to that effect. There's something obvious about that, that I like.

As a footballer, I think there are better players around. He's inconsistent because his brain isn't always connected to his feet.

That goal he scored against Ireland was a bit special. He'll be one player on the pitch tonight (if he plays) capable of creating one of those moments of trancendental magic. Though I hope Alex Oxtail-Chamberpot chooses tonight to fulfill his destiny.

Balotelli - genius or is it all just hype.........

.....somewhere in the middle of that! But, he's certainly a great character for the game, never a dull moment! Hope he's in a strop tonight.

Ballo can do the unexpected which could cause us a problem, but you are never sure of getting him to finish a game. Appears more volatile than Roo so has to tread carefully as Terry and co will be doing their utmost to disenchant him.

On his day he can produce a moment of magic but as of yet genius no.

he's an absolute lad. Football at the end of the day is an entertainment industry and he is as entertaining as they come!

I said at the start of the tournament that I thought he would have a big say in the Euros, and unfortunately I think it will be tonight.
