Luka Modric, 26, has decided he wants to leave Tottenham to play for Spanish champions Real Madrid. Manchester United and Paris St-Germain have both been chasing Modric, but it seems the Croatia midfielder has set his heart on playing for manager Jose Mourinho. (Source: Sunday Mirror) Full story:- Luca Modric, the diminutive elfin Spurs midfielder has decided that he wants to leave the club by ending the six year contract that he signed with the club, in 2010. At the time of signing that contract, the player said, "Tottenham Hotspur gave me my chance in the Premier League and I want to go on to achieve great success here with them. Yes, there have been enquiries from other big clubs, but I have no interest in going anywhere." All of that has now changed, as the player looks to tear up his contract. Last night, he said, "Already I have put the contract into a shredding machine and I have made hamster bedding out of it, for my little pet." Speaking to our hack sports writer, on his way back from Croatia's failed Euro campaign, the player looked relaxed. "Yes, I have failed with Croatia, but I also failed with Spurs. So what? When I get into a team of winners, they will carry me, and I will be a winner also." "A contract is a nice thing to have, but at the end of the day, it is only a piece of paper with writing on it." When asked how he could have such a dramatic change of heart in a mere two years since extending his contract with Spurs, the player laughed, "That was then, this is now. Things change. Two years ago I had a top of the range Mercedes sports car, but now I have a top of the range Ferrari. When I sign for Madrid, perhaps I will change that for a top of the range Bentley. Who knows?" When asked if "loyalty" to clubs was a thing of the past, the player sought the intervention of his interpreter, who told us, "There is no word for 'loyalty' in Croatia."
Lojalnost Odanost That's two... Anyway, it says a lot about the the tabloid that even when he *cough* says that he wants to move to Real, they continue with the fantasy than Man Utd can afford to pay for him.
It wouldn't bother me too much if he went to Real Madrid. At least he wouldn't be playing against us 2+ times a year. Plus maybe we could get someone in return.
The current rumour is that we're asking for Nuri Sahin in return, which adds to my doubts about the whole story. I said this two days ago, so if I can follow that course of logic, I think some random journalist can, too: Join the dots speculation, I think.
Powerspurs...i wouldnt mind having an option of cash plus a player...but which list would RM put in front of us?
i should have read it all..i started frothing at the mouth as soon as i read the first sentence........and ive had to edit lots of explicit words from my first post as it dawns on me that this is HIAG's doing again!
that bit about the Ferrari got me throwing some serious abuse..im glad nobody read it before i changed it
I was just showing off. I got bored one summer and decided to learn Croatian. So if anyone needs somebody to order a round of beers in Dubrovnic... Anyway, £25m + Higuain would cover it.
When either Modric confirms his interest, or Real make an actual bid, I might believe this. Until then, in the immortal words of the character from The Fast Show, " it's all bollocks"
Yes, it's my own work (apart from the quote from Modric at the time he signed his extension). In truth, I have no idea what car Moddy drives. Or if he has a pet hamster.
