He did not do amazing in quali but in the race if he had a bit of luck, or even without any bad luck, he would of finished 7th, which from starting 13th on the grid at Monaco is pretty good.

OK, I've stuck up for him long enough, but time to face facts, he isn't consistently good enough for F1, he shows signs now and again that he has 'it', but overall the missing years of experience between Ayrton dying and his mother allowing him to do it was too much to overcome. I hope he proves me wrong, but I don't think he will.

I just dont understand how his strengths and weaknesses have flipped from his Renault days. Losing faith in him now to be honest. Struggling to see how he'll turn it around however much i want him to.

That he is having trouble matching Maldonado speaks for itself.

Whilst Maldonado has been a suprise this season, he is certainly not world class and that Senna is struggling to get close to matching him on the circuits where the car clearly has some speed says it all.

Disagree with part of that, I think Maldonado IS world class, and a match for any of the big names, when he isn't dumping his car into a wall, sand-trap or losing his cool with other drivers. When he does perform though he's streets ahead of Senna.

Senna should be on par with Maldonado, that is a fact. Senna I don't think has had any un-provoked DNF's.... so it is his performance or setup that is lacking.

    Accept from Schumacher's pile driver.

But he got whacked by Maldo in P1 himself. Whilst he's an improvment over Senna, surely someone like Sutil or Alguersuari would be a much better call?

In fairness that was his first P1 since Barcelona so he's not as well tuned into the car as he could be

Ah, sorry, didn't realise. I thought he'd driven P1 all the time, seems i've very much mistaken. I bow to your superior knowledge.

    <sorry>

Senna is too inconsistent and despite showing occasional raw pace, has tended to look rather untidy whenever I've watched him. He has some talent above say, that of Karthikeyan; but he really should be performing better than he is by now.

The Williams car and his teaming with the hot-headed Maldonado* for this season should have presented the perfect platform for him to attract more than just sponsorship. But if he does not soon begin to match Maldonado, he will begin to fade
    –as I suggested last year.

*N.B. Unlike Senna, Maldonado is now showing some real potential. Beneath the raw edges lies some quality. At the moment, he is too aggressive; but if he can calm down (he needs to do this during this season, starting today), he is likely to secure a permanent seat in F1 for the foreseeable future. Conversely, Senna's place in F1 seems for the moment at least, not to be justified on talent alone.

Inconsistant maybe but his carear has to be the most unsettled in history.

Today was so unlucky, no way was it his fault he was still battling with the car infront. It does seem though he is not very respected on the race track, maybe he is too nice and not tough when going toe to toe with another driver =/

ignoring the accident (which I thought was a race incident, although 60/40 his fault) I thought he had a good race, unlucky not to score points (although I think they might penalise Maldonado), the trouble is he's inconsistent, the plague of Williams' drivers this season.

He is not really a matured driver. Of course maturity comes with experience. But maldo does have talent and speed(or senna is unworthy of his seat). I feel that maldo will be roped in to a big team in the future, if he proves himself.

Maldo could have easily avoided the accident and got the podium coz hamilton s tyres are already gone. He could have overtook him in the straights. But then maldo is not that kinda drive , is he?

That is true. He didn't have as much time in karting and the junior single-seater categories as the other drivers in F1.

He had another decent race today, was a brave overtake to take and hold 9th, maybe he's starting to find his feet at last
