Good for Danny if this is true, at his age he cannot turn down two year deals on very good money. Shame we couldn't hang onto him and will be sorely missed. Can see him walking through the Championship.

I think this is a real shame and we are going to miss him more than people may think.

In my opinion we played much better when he was playing. He was certainly worth another season.

Let's hope there are things happening behind the scenes for a couple of new signings.

Definitely the biggest player we've lost so far. He'll be fiendishly difficult to replace and I wouldn't be surprised if we miss him this season. But in realist terms, he's not getting any younger and he was always going to be on the cusp of retirement. Here's to a new era, and good luck to Danny.

Best of luck to Danny, I hope it works out well for him. The lack of contract renewals at the club is worrying me. Aren't Kaca and Kelly out of contract too?

Those, in a way, the most notable FI but there are quite a few others. The list is -

    Alex Kacaniklic - Summer 2012 (2 years)
    Alex Smith - 25th June 2012 (3 years)
Buomesca Tué Na Bangna - Summer 2012 (1 year with option of a further year)
Danny Hoesen - Summer 2012 (1 year with option of a further year)
    Jesse Joronen – 30th June 2012 (3 years)
    Jonathan Cosgrove - 30th June 2012 (2 years)
    Richard Barroihet - Summer 2012 (1 Year)
    Stephen Kelly - 1st July 2012 (3 years)
Zdenek Grygera - Summer 2012 (1 year with option of a further year

The list with players only having only 1 year left on their contracts (18 of them) is even more frightening.

Absolutely agree. I think Danny bought much more to the team than he was given credit for. When you look at the way we’ve played the last few seasons everything has gone through him. The fact his style of play is very simple I think his contribution has often been overlooked, A few times last seasons where we have been in control on a game and he has been taken off with 10-15 min to go and we have lost our shape and fallen apart.

Think at the age of 35 we knew he wasn’t going to go on forever but I feel it’s a shame he is not going to be at Craven cottage though next season. I hope he is a success at Blackburn though and wish him the best.

The good news is I think Diarra could fit into that position in the centre of the park. Towards the end of the season I though he looked impressive.

It looks like we could see a considerably different team to the one that finished last season.as big Maart starts to build his team. I’m feeling quite optimistic and excited about the next season.

For what it's worth, Danny turned down a QPR offer.

Sorry to see Murphy go - he was still one of our best players last year. The longer it went without him signing a new deal the more it looked like he would leave, but I'm more than a bit surprised at where he's ended up given the mess that Blackburn are in. It'll be interesting to see if he's been given a coaching role up there, and I wouldn't bet against him having replaced Steve Kean as manager by the end of next season.

Time will tell if Jol has got it right, with his push for youth.
In 9 months when its time to analyse, will he be our hero, or a complete a.......
Getting back to the Danny theme,i believe his move to Blackburn was a bit more,
than a 2 year contract, the promise of a move into future management ?

If someone told me AVB, Bruce, McCarthy, Warnock, Redknapp, Lambert, McLeish, Daglish, Rodgers and Hodgson would have all been sacked/switched allegiances before Steve Kean I'd have had some serious trouble believing them.

If this does go through, I'm going to have a nagging little worry about next season until I see what Jol has in mind to replace him.

Best of luck if you do move on, Danny. The goal against Portsmouth alone made you a Fulham legend, and even if we ignore that, you've been immense for us in everything that followed.

As sorry as I am to say this I think he had to go to move this current crop on. It will always be a problem having your club captain sitting on the bench, new bloke or youngster we have is struggling people are going to call for Murphy everytime....
Murphy doesn't want to sit on the bench either...we saw when Jol started to take him off on 70mins and the looks Murphy gave it, ok he got on with as a pro that he is but he'd have the nagging doubts himself if he stayed for another year about sitting on the bench, maybe not even getting on the pitch. Lets not forget Murphy is 35 yrs old. I dont question his contribution the bullet header will stand long in the memory but it wasnt just that to remember...the pen at City, the pass to Kamara, at city the pass to Davies against Hamburg, that goal against United....list goes on...Danny Murphy is a true Fulham legend. Best of luck to him.

I'm looking forward to the future.

I really hope he comes back to the club at some point, as a coach or manager. It's safe to say now Danny is a Fulham legend.
