A very reliable midlands Journo John Percy has tweeted that Paul Anderson is going to have talks with Hull this week. His contract at Forest has just ran out He get 99% stuff right with us @John__Percy Paul Anderson is set for talks with Hull next week. #nffc #hcafc
He came through our youth system before being hoovered up by Liverpool. Be a great signing if true, pace and a decent winger.
He's from Hull originally I think. Well, he was in our youth setup anyway before being poached by Liverpool.
He was a very hot prospect as a youth player, but he never quite reached the heights he seemed destined for. He's still a decent player though. And we got Welshy as part of that Liverpool deal and he was my favourite player until he got that shocker of a leg break. It was right in front of me, I heard it snap.
I think he'd be a great signing. When we were playing 4-3-3 or 4-2-1-2-1 or whatever you wanted to call it the wingers lack of consistency was what was holding us back in my opinion. Cam, Brady and King (albeit he was looking good by the end of his loan) weren't providing enough decent supply to Fryatt consistently, they also didn't chip in with enough goals. I rate Cam and have faith he'll get back to top form, id also love to get King back, but a more experienced winger (in Anderson's case league experience rather than age) would really add to the squad. Even if we're playing 442 the wingers are going to be key to Fryatts goal haul at the end of the season.
I was at the Ricoh Arena when John Welsh delivered his finest moment in a Hull City shirt. Two goals, and the first ever away team to win at the then new Ricoh Arena. Amazing.
Forest supporters seem quite ambivalent about losing Anderson. http://www.forestforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=32265
Not sure why so many seem to be delighted with this. As far as I am concerned his career has been on nothing but a downward spiral since he left us and now he has been freed by a club that flirted with relegation last season. Hardly sock-blowing-offing!
Anderson is still young he'll be 24 by the new season, obviously talented he could shine with our team..
To be honest at first sight this deal doesn't seem that exciting, but sometimes good players don't shine in crap teams and Forest were pretty dire last season. Apparently Martinez really wanted him when he was at Swansea and it sounds like Holloway was interested at Blackpool. Now SB is taking a look so he must have something. With Bruce's experience I would back him to know a decent player, so if he wants him that will do for me.
Also don't really see this as a great signing like some, but he is a winger and I think that was our weak link last season and we need at least 2. I'd really like a goalscoring winger as well and I don't think Anderson is that.
Who would you rather have Paul Anderson or Josh King for another season? I know what my choice would be!
