"Having just appointed a new manager, all current and new options are being assessed. Michael, with the help of the recruitment staff, will decide over the next few weeks the direction we take regarding potential new signings.

"It's important our supporters are aware of this and not to read too much into the host of names being linked with the club at present or in the future.''

Jenkins had already made it clear Laudrup would not be handed a massive transfer budget,

What do you think do we need?

I would like to see 4 new players CB, attacking midfielder, Left winger and a new striker.

I do agree with HJ that we must not spend money for the sake of it!

Quality and value for money = good business :emoticon-0150-hands

    In order of priority:

CB if we can't secure Caulker. Absolutely crucial imo.
AM if we can't get Siggy. Big hopes for Agustien but he's more of a holding midfielder.
S to give Graham some serious competition.

I'd only look at the wing situation if we've money left over. Two excellent wingers already in Sinclair and Dyer with the versatile Routledge who can step in. Not the highest priority but something we can look at if possible.

We need to seriously look at offloading though. I think Laudrup needs to assess the squad asap wit an eye on reducing the wage bill. Hope to god he doesn't get bamboozled by Gower like every other manager we've had.

I would like to see sinclair challenged or for us to have options in that part of the field, but do agree with you its not top priority.

do you think that DG could drop back to a AM role and get a top class striker instead?

It`s summertime (apparently), agents have a load of spare time on their hands. Leave the new gaffer have a bit of time, see what we`ve got, then get what we need.

Musty, yes I think DG could do the AM role, I think he`d be quite good at that. Then get a striker or two, and defenders.

fair play £15 million is a good start because you have to take into account that will virtually double by the time you pay signing on fees and the wages so fair do's to jinks understanding that a fair amount is needed for laudrup to do his job.....on dobbie he would be a fool to go to celtic nowadays, the league is poor and the money scottish football teams get now is very little. Its his choice but if he is going to move then blackpool would be my choice, in my own mind i think he should stay with us and fight for his place now we have a new manager, I believe he has the ability but sadly its been shattered by brendan and now he has gone he should prove to everyone that brendan was wrong to discard him and send him out on loan....whatever he decides he will always be a jack and we will always love the guy....

I don't know Dai. Laudrup coming in, to me, will illustrate just how far off the "top level" Dobbie is. We need someone like Sigurdsson (or at least someone who can control the ball and link play like he does) in that position, not someone who only brings it under control half the time...

you may be right scott but to be fair to dobbie he has not had that much opportunity with us, I would love to keep him for at least one more season and give him that opportunity under laudrup as i think laudrup will be a more attacking manager who will suit dobbie better in midfield...I might be wrong of course but i dont think we have seen the best from dobie yet. Brendan i love the guy but he would always stick to the same players reguardless if they were scoring or not and i think laudrup will be different due to the fact the type of player he was.....but like i say its up to dobie to prove himself and i hope he can....

Dobbie is nowhere near quick enough on the ball for the Premier League. He's caught in possession often enough at the next level down as anyone who watched him for us and Blackpool should have noticed. Still capable of scoring and creating down there but up against Premier League defenders his deficiencies are plain.

We need at a bare minimum:

Two centre backs. One to replace Caulker, and one to ensure that Gary Monk is emergency cover only rather than first reserve. If we can find a left sided one who can also fill in for Taylor then so much the better.

Two attacking midfielders. One to replace Gylfi, one to cover and compete for the role.

Four players should be ample for our needs until January. We can take another look then.

All players get caught in possession, it's in the nature of the game in the final third, lost count how many times Sinclair got caught last season, and even the genius of Dyer has been caught in possession, so don't see the issue, writing a player off, before he's been given a fair crack of the whip, is foolish to say the least, hope Dobbie gets a deserved break with Laudrup. Mind you maybe Dobbie has had enough of Swansea City, and wants a move to where he can get regular footy, wouldn't blame him in that case................. <cheers>

There's a difference between sometimes getting caught in possession and regularly doing it.

We probably wouldn't be where we are now had Rodgers not started playing the Dobster in attacking midfield and we all owe him a debt of gratitude for it, but it does neither party any good to deny the obvious.

I hope he gets a move to someone like Celtic. He deserves it.

So I have asked this so many times previously, who do we drop for Dobbie ? Is he a better option than the other midfielders ? Would we have landed up in a higher league position ? Care to give an opinion Dragon as you regularly avoid the question in other threads ? Thanks

He did a great job at Wembley (where was Siggy?), and our semi against Forest (Where was Siggy), and with Siggy possibly going (get it!), he'll get his position back, hopefully!................... <cheers>

Are you seriously saying that he is the replacement for siggy ? <doh> Christ we need someone that is going to challenge the best defenders in the world that is not dobbie I'm sorry to say!

And you ask where was siggy, probably if he was with us together with Borini at that time we would have gone up as champions

Valley I will always remember that Wembley game, and the contribution Dobbie played, he will always be a legend for me, and if I was manager I would give him the chance to prove his critics wrong, that's the least he deserves in my view, strange how we could give Patstado all season to prove himself in the championship, before letting him go, yet Dobbie has proved he knows where the back of the net is, to me he was thrown in the deep end early season cynically by Rodgers as part of his plan for his preferred starting XI!.................. <ok>

Yes he was a legend for us - in the championship! But we are in with the big boys now, and we want to stay there. It's a good job you aren't the manager as you are showing to much sentiment here for him. I can't believe you are seriously entertaining the idea that Dobbie is the answer to the replacement for siggy <doh> we need someone who will score goals from the midfield as consistently as siggy. I don't think laudrup will go for dobbie as the guy has no pace

Well that`s where it counts, we have no say as to who is good enough or not good enough for the team. Although I do think that Dobbie had a rough deal last season with Rodgers. If he had played him more, instead of his favourites, we`d have had a clearer picture.
