New Approach's excellent start to his stud career bodes well for Frankel's career too. There are only 12 sons of Galileo at stud, 7 with horses of racing age. Of those 3 are marketed as NH sires (Galileo Galilei, Mahler and Vendangeur)

The remaining 4 have made good starts:

Heliostatic - oldest progeny 3; sire of G3 winner CRIUS

New Approach - oldest progeny 2; sire of G2 winner Dawn Approach and G3 winner Newfangled

Sixties Icon - oldest progeny 2; current leading first season sire in GB with 6 winners from 9 runners, inc Listed winner Chilworth Icon

Teofilo - oldest progeny 3; sire of G1 winner Parish Hall

Frankels full brother stays 1m4 on soft ground. I always said Frankel should have run in the Derby *

What a daft thing to say! You can't compare two horses that run at different distances.

I doubt that Darley will increase his fee, they left Teofilo on the same fee as last year after he got G1 winner Parish Hall

Do you think? I think Frankel's brother doesn't stay 1m4f on soft ground. He nearly did so perhaps still a valid point . . .

I think he would have won had he not been interfered with.*

Ofcourse he stayed the trip, that was a personal best performance from him, and he finished infront of the Derby 3rd and 4th *

You've hit the nail on the head Dan. He was his own worst enemy.

There isnt a group 1 filly in this field, bad bunch of fillies, Id be looking to get Homecoming Queen beat to be honest, even on the ground, but I wouldnt be confident enough to make her a Boris Fenster lay because the field is so weak.

I am having a couple of quid on Irish History.

Godolphin had a promising bunch of 2yo fillies and were fancied to do well in this division, interesting that she is their representetive here.

There are many other factors which contributed to the career best IMO - experience, ground, pace etc. I don't think the trip was one of them. He travelled the best of all and was then outstayed close home having traded at 1.08 in running.

I think his optimum will be 10f and next season because he's very green still. I like him though. I think he'll be good as a 4yo.
