ur a nutter dai...........you wont get a lock of hair for 1.5mil......he`s the best player outside of the prem he is under contract he has never stated the need for prem football as essential and THE CLUB dont need the money......it seems pretty much in our favour if the price is right
i doesnt look like the little fat fkr stopped eating them either clingo>>>>>if you see whitts there clingo make sure he only got a tropicana in hand or slap him across the ear butty
dai i agree with you that he deserves a chance to play in the big league and earn a big wage to go with it, but for me we have a far better chance of going up this year than last - a combination of us having a better team with a few siginings to build on a good base, and also teams like blackburn and bolton dont strike fear into championship teams. but snap their hands off at £3m? are you having a laugh mate? for a player of his talents that is a derisory fee for a player voted best player in the championship last year. shane long is a decent player who went for £7m last year and we should snap their hands off at less than half that? different players yes but whittingham is much more technical.
It's not really a fair comparison though Swanp. Two completely different players, playing in different positions. It would be like comparing a goalkeeper to a defender, it just can't be done. As for Whittingham, there is no doubt he deserves a shot at the big time. But, does he want to leave you? No transfer request, seems happy, sohe's obviousley in no rush to jump ship, which can only be a good thing for you guys. Still, in today's market, if you wanted to sell, I'd say youwould get £4 million, tops. But as you say, you don't need to sell, so couldn't see him going personally.
As a midfielder he's probably in the 3-5mill bracket. Long and Graham are stikers so to compare their values is almost pointless. Players with his technical ability are rarely available for less than 3million and suggest he's worth less is ridiculous. I actually think he'd be better suited to the Prem. His set play delivery and potential for 1 killer pass would be valued highly enough for him to be the passenger he sometimes can be in the all action 110mph Championship.
He'll probably give you 1 more season then, unless an offer comes in that McKay feels is too good to turn down. If you're not in the Premiership by next summer he will leave, for less money than you'd get for him now. West Brom would make sense actually, next contract is likely to be his last big contract. They can offer Premiership football and the chance to see out his playing days in the Midlands, where he's from.
