I don't happen to know the whole history of Ireland Vs Britain, I have made no claim otherwise. To be honest, i'm fascinated by history, mostly military history but Irish history has never really even tempted me to look into it, probably because no real modern wars were fought over it and any battles which I have read of, ie The Boyne, were dull affairs.

I may be wrong of course and someone will probably tell me I am, but that's the thing, it still would not compell me to look into it when there are so many rivetting histories of other countries to be reading up on. This should not be taken as a personal sleight of Ireland, truth be told my Scots history is pretty spartan too.

Most Irish battles have been stories of brutal massacres off the back of poorly organised insurrections. The Easter rising was pretty half arsed in reality but it did spawn some martyrs. The 1798 rebellion much the same. Michael Collins is considered the founder of 20th Century guerilla tactics during the Tan war and the civil war was fought in much the same way.

Some notable Irish war heroes fought on both sides of the American civil war including the likes of Stonewall Jackson.

If you remember who won the 86 world cup, it was Ireland really as the winning goalscorer was named in honour of the great Admiral William Brown from Foxford Co Mayo who founded the Argentinian navy.

Mr T. Where have you been for the past year. You seem to have forgotten that the old Rangers argument that Murray was completely to blame for the EBT and double contracts era and Whyte was completely to blame for last season's fraud, has been shown by all Football authorities to be nonsense. I thought you would have liked a bit of fun in your hours of need and would think it rather funny for the Rangers crooks to have hid away some cash.
