I knew this would happen sooner or later. Buthead, I'd like to distance myself from the war-mongering posters on this thread. I think its in real bad taste.
...I honestly do not understand that sort of attitude 67years after the war and do not think it is funny at all. Calling me Buthead is of course very funny as I had expected that to happen much, much sooner...
Tellera was buried with full military honors by the British, such was the respect that they held him in. Fancy posting something about Dunkirk as well? Hopefully, when my generation has gone, this ridiculous fixation with a war that ended 65 years ago will fade away. Our parents were taught to carry these stereotypes around with them- part of the propaganda effort to ridicule the enemy. Unfortunately that bred a couple of generations of ignorance that we are clearly still struggling with. I just find it embarrassing. PS the bayonet charge was by the ITALIANS, you ****wit.
Thank You!!! Finally someone agrees with me! Brace yourself for Churchill's Pups mate. They'll be on any minute hunting you down. Good luck with them.....................you'll need it
What a thoroughly fantastic contribution. Beware though Stan, Beavis and Butthead will be banging their drums in your direction after that piece of modernity.
England v Italy (Kiev, 1945 BST) Match preview Mark Lawrenson Lawro: "Italy have been decent, without being spectacular. I looked at them a lot before the tournament and I wasn't convinced, and I haven't seen anything since to change my mind. "They still have some really good players but they have no-one to really frighten England, apart from Mario Balotelli. "We could see 'Super Mario' or 'Stupid Mario' in Kiev but Italy manager Cesare Prandelli is clever because he knows Balotelli could cause havoc with his own team or the opposition so he is leaving him on the bench. Use accessible player and disable flyout menus Highlights: England 1-0 Ukraine "I think a lot will depend on the heat, because England have always had peaks and troughs in games. Italy will have their time on top, no doubt about it but England's defence, goalkeeper and the way they play their system will keep them in the game. "The best description I've seen of England at Euro 2012 is that they are the ugly ducklings that have got through. It's true, because they have not been easy on the eye. "There is plenty to be positive about, however. Steven Gerrard has been absolutely immense and Scott Parker has been great alongside him. The back four and Joe Hart in goal were excellent against Ukraine too. "But the big thing for me about England - and it is something I saw in all three group games - is that when they have needed something special to happen at either end, it has. They are finding ways to get through games. "I think this will be a tight game which will go to penalties and I think England will win it on penalties because they have got such a good goalkeeper in Hart. "They need to get past Italy before they think about anything else but, if England do come up against Germany in the semi-finals, I think they will struggle." Guy Mowbray Mowbray: "This England team is together, they have got what it takes to grind out a game and get a result and you can see the spirit growing as this tournament goes along. The scenes at the end of Tuesday's win over Ukraine showed that. "I was looking at the players as they came off the pitch at the Donbass Arena, and they hugged one another, then they went to Gary Neville, Ray Lewington and Roy Hodgson. "I'm not saying we will win anything or that we are world beaters, because we are not. This is an average side but it is incredible how Hodgson has galvanized them in such a short space of time. "I just don't think this is a classically good Italian team. My only worry is that me might lose 1-0 to a late Balotelli goal but my gut feeling is that we will get to the semi-finals and lose to Germany." Pat Nevin Nevin: "I am backing England 100% here. Italy look very ordinary for an Italian side, although they will be difficult to beat. "They have got good players but if you don't give Andrea Pirlo time, he cannot hurt you. "If you let him run the game, he will destroy you but, if not, he is not one to work his socks off and make space for himself. "England can close him down and it is almost his nightmare scenario to be up against Steven Gerrard and Scott Parker, who are going to be on his case the whole time." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18512447
...and Italy will be a toughy I guess. Was very surprised to see a good English team this time so "we" will meet once again in the semi I guess.
I can stir all I want North but there's no sign of the pair of lads! Another thread was all set for a right old ding dong between Imaz and Old Jim last night but the two of them disappeared. What more can I do?
Just some friendly, in jest, tongue in cheek pre-game banter. Who let the dogs out! please log in to view this image
Being blessed/cursed with having Italian relatives am really hoping Italy get absolutely hammered this time. Not sure I could take the rampant triumphalism of 1982 and 2006 again. As an aside to the comments above Italian bravery in the last world war should not be questioned, Google "Amedeo Guillet".
Do not rate them too much but never underestimate them anyway. Since Otto (Rehagel) isn´t the coach anymore I do feel they will not manage to go through to the next round.
