Fair enough Uber. We played Kevin Doyle upfront against them and while he has many limitations as a player, winning headers is usually not one of them. He was destroyed. I don't think the long ball to Carroll will work here. I would like to see England playng with serious pace on the wings and hitting Italy where i think they are weakest, their fullbacks. Carroll might be useful for the crosses or the free kicks that I think you can win by getting in behind their fullbacks. Just my thoughts.
England to win 2-1 with a very modest performance and a bit of luck as usual. I believe Rooney and Gerrard will be Englands scorers. The war time (WW2) is still very much in our minds here in Finland at least if you have born on 40's,50's or 60's and more the time has past from it the more humorously is the talking about it. I dont mind football to compared with war if it will done with using some humour in it.
1-1 Full time England to win 2-1. The team hasn't built us up high enough to get the full effect of the crashing back down to earth with a loud Thud, Yet..
Russia of course for obvious reasons. I have nothing against Sweden as a country or their peoples but as the sport is to concern i hate them guts. Especially that arrogant swedish donkey ibrahimovitch. Norway is all right.
That was a very promising start Silvio! But then you descended to these serious mattters of football, war and bigotry I grew up in the 50's on the edge of London and think I understand what Kilburn means, but that was 50 plus years ago now and even us old farts have had no excuse for racial biogotry the last 45 years least! But that don't mean we can't have a little fun with each others genetics, hah! To the real serious issue, if we play to our attacking strengths of speed, movement, power in the air with our very solid defense behind, Italy, will melt quicker than their ice cream, but will Woy dare? Probably not, lilly livered white English boy that he is, we'll play all cagy a la Swansea and hope for one on the counter.
Hände Hoch! Oberleutnant Paul Temme of Jagdgeschwader 2 "Richthofen" belly-lands his Messerschmitt Bf109E at Shoreham-By-Sea on the 13th August 1940, the day known as "Adler Tag" - Eagle Day. please log in to view this image Basil Fawlty meets the Germans - don't mention the war! Don't worry, Swords. They will be there soon enough. And when they are, you can count on plenty of "Hande Hoch!"'s and "For you, Tommy, Zer Tournament Iss Over!" comments from us all!
No doubt Sooper and COL will be at the front of the queue. Can't wait.................................
I really hope Greece spoil Germany's party! That would be the best result of the whole tournament for me.
My wife is Italian so it's going to be a funny old weekend for me. It's actually our fifth wedding anniversary on Saturday too, so depending on how magnanimous or bitter one of us is able to be in defeat, it could well be our last!
0-0 or 1-1 like many say but England to win on Pens. Italy are also rubbish at pens and we have a better keeper now.
Both will likely cancel each other out. 0-0 or 1-1 and it could go all the way to Peno's. There's nothing between these two sides.
The scene after the game on Sunday? The Italians don't like it up 'em either. please log in to view this image British infantry battered the attacking Italian riflemen, leaving the M13s 20 yards from their objective, but completely unsupported. Tellera himself led a bayonet charge and was mortally wounded. The 10th Army was defeated. At 9 a.m., white flags went up over the Italian lines. The campaign was over. It was a complete British triumph. The British had lost 500 men, with 55 missing and 1373 wounded. They had advanced 500 miles in two months, destroying an army of ten divisions and taking a total of 130,000 POWs.
