Time and time again after scoring first we then lose the ability to do the things that led to scoring the opening goal in the first place, can't string more than a few passes together & we look all over the place.
And it's worked. You can do all the pretty passing you like but if the other team scores more than you it counts for nothing. People have become too obsessed with the idea of Spain/Barca's passing football to be positive about us winning our group playing a different way. People keep saying we'll get found out against a better side, but the way I see it is that we're going to be difficult to beat no matter who we face, and as long as we have that we have a chance against anyone in the competition.
If someone offered Leeds fans cr@p football but promotion this year, would anyone turn it down? Same with England for me. We don't have the players to play great expansive football, so we're having to play to our strengths. We didn't play great against Ukraine but we did ok in the other 2 games, albeit not pretty.
Ask that question IF England win the final, if they don't then you cannot compare their performance and coming home empty handed with a cr@p year of football and promotion My point is I don't believe England can play 6 games of this quality and bring home a cup.
I know? But my point still stands... In answer to your question yes I would accept Leeds playing crap and getting promotion but I would not accept Leeds playing crap football and finishing 14th like we did this season.. So again yes I would accept England playing like they have been and winning the trophy but I don't believe that they will. Another point - Many of the Leeds squad were not capable of playing any better than they did, Brown exceeded, McCormack netted 20 goals, Snoddy with 13 and plenty of assists, O'Dea, Connolly, Robinson, Paynter, Forsell, Mikka and anyone I have left off were playing to the best of their limited ability. Maybe only Clayton and Becchio could have done better week in and week out, looking at the England players no they are not as technically gifted as Spain but they can play better than the performances we have seen, they have the ability to string more than 5 passes together.
Completely agree Ristac, its alright saying if we play like crap and get the trophy its fine but how improbable is that when your playing a ****ty style like that, its not really. I actually think England have the wingers and midfielders to break teams down, Rooney upfront ain't bad either so I don't know why we dont play to those strengths, England's defence is ****.
