"Norwich boss Chris Hughton is in the bidding for England keeper Jack Butland which cracks open the door for Paul Lambert to nab John Ruddy, writes Alan Nixon." From today's BBC Gossip - http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/norwich-eye-jack-butland-birmingham-904443 I really hope this is just a rumour, as I feel that JR was a massive part of the reason that we had such a good season back in the EPL. I'd be more gutted to lose him than GH and REALLY don't want him going to Villa!!!!
It's absolute nonsense imo. Why would Hughton be spending good time and money on the one position we are so well served in? Ruddy was the first player to say he was looking forward to working with the new management team, and has always said he is really pleased to be back in East Anglia.
It is not often that I will come out say this kind of reporting is no more than speculation but in this case I firmly believe it is utter and total garbage
Three England representative goalkeepers on the books already. CH may know Butlands potential but wouldn't have seen Rudd or Steers potential to save £4M. We will no doubt see a newspaper report that Lambert would like all Norwich supporters to follow him to Villa.
ok Villa £75 million and you can have the whole damn squad get the rumours over and done with in one go. 1) Villa are a little club with no money 2) Ruddy is a man of substance not a Holt or Lambert he will be green and yellow for years... the next BG 3)Who but some Scot from Glasgow would give up the beautiful county of Norfolk for that dump in the West Midlands? If everyone stopped buying the stupid rags the pathetic rumours would stop My Headlines for day Hughton linked with Bale as the old Spurs links make good. Lambert to Spurs as he is stunned by Villas lack of cash Ameobi seen in Morrisons car park...............i'll get my coat ...............
Excellent - I'm sure it's just journos making up stories to fill the back pages whilst waiting for the England V Italy game on Sunday!!
It seems strange to me that both Holt and Ruddy, both at least England B standard, whould want to go to clubs that finished lower in the leagues than NCFC did. Holt to West Ham seems a poor move for him when they have a surfit of strikers. If they want to give us £5.5m for him then this seems to be good business if he really wants away and goes WH. Ruddy to Villa is a step down on last season's performance and I am not sure if would enhance Ruddy's future England career. Again, if £4.0m is the price another good piece of business. Could be that we could have about £8/9m extra to spend on new players and perhaps this is what it's all about?
Really don't want to sell ruddy and Butland is probably not ready to start in the prem. but I would like him, and maybe sell Rudd, not ruddy. Then Ruddy, Butland and steer would mean we had three on England best up and coming keepers. In a few years we could look at him and wish Butland played for us. In conclusion buy Butland if a good deal. Don't sell ruddy!
I seem to remember you telling us not to panic with the Lambert rumours Supers. Agreed there is no point panicking as it's only a rumour in a crap paper, but he could leave and it can't be ruled out. So could others, it comes with the territory now.
Cityslicker- i think ruddy should be valued around 10 million in my opinion. He still probably has ten years left in him maybe 15 if you look at Freidal, Howard and van Der sar, and you could probably compare him to a 20 year old outside in terms of how much left in his career. Would you sell a 20 year old outfield player who has been called up to England and has been massive in the premier league for 4 million. No chance.
Load of rubbish. These made up stories in crap papers are getting really boring. Provide at least a bit of evidence then I maybe interested. Suprising they are allowed to make this s*** up.
why would we be interested in butland who, at best, is on a par with rudd and steer. makes no sense at all, just hampering those two's progress and they will eventually leave before their potential is realised.
There's no point in panicking -- FULL STOP! Suppose it happened. Would forum posters losing it help in any way? Meanwhile, why not read rbf's latest bit of good sense!
yes but my reason for that with regards lambert was not to do with whether or not he would leave - it was asking why everyone was panicking about if he did? he was always going to go at some point - would we have spent the next year flailing around, hoping he would stay? if people want to leave they will - nothing we can do about it but the constant panicking every time anyone hears or reads a rumour is embarrassing to be honest. managers and players move on, always have done, always will do.
