not sure who is panicking, not a player who sets me alight, it's what's called giving an honest opinion.

Think your lot should be aiming higher than this, if this was Newcastle I would be extremely underwhelmed even if we had finished as low as you did.

Consistently injured his entire career and is now knocking on. You want young hungry players, not old has been mercenaries. Good on his day but how often is his day?

    Right.

Having had several beers (and captained my 5-a-side team to a 9-2 victory in 90 degree heat) i'm gonna say this.

We are ****ing SUNDERLAND, our current pick is Ji (good first touch, can't actually run with the ball), Whickham (hapless, will get there, i pray) and Campbell (Trier, we all love him, but never shown anything to suggest he'll get more than 8 in a season).

Saha scores ****ing goals, always have always will, 1 in 3 , wins balls in the air, and has a nice touch and an eye for link up.

For us to think we are above him is ****ing preposterous, and I don't give 2 ****s if you want to argue.

This is a very good player for nowt, and sadly, we are beggars not choosers.

We are not signing a world class striker anytime soon, accept it, and look at the bigger ****ing picture, we won't even sign the likes of Mandzukic, as a Europe team will be delighted to take him.

Head out the clouds lads , we finished 13th, we are no ****ing draw. Saha could be a smashing signing, as we are at that level, like it or lump it.

Agreed, we are not going to sign a player like Bent or Gyan this summer and the best we can hope for is a Saha or a Fletcher

as I said earlier if we go into the season and we have a strike force of...

Fletcher, Saha, Campbell, Ji and either Yilmaz or Guidetti on loan (with Wickham going to Hull for a season) I will be a very happy SAFC, we are not going to better that

Poolie, if that was our front 5, i'd be cock-a-hoop.

We need to remember that although we all know we're a great, passionate club with great potential, to the outside world we're an also ran.

These things take time, and writing off the likes of Saha is ridiculous.

We have Ji, Whickham & Campbell for **** sake.

We've also seen Yakubu written off, Yakubu who has scored 1 in 2.4 over 9 years here '**** him, he's not ****ing Jean Pierre Papin', I wanna tar my ****ing hair out man!

I am all up for it.

Firstly we can all imagine he won't be the number 1 striker coming in. But on a free, he is better than what we have. He can score goals when fit, I would happily have him.

We need to beef up our striking options, & on a free a good bit a business.

This would be a yes for me!

I think with MON we have all become very realistic, and always many of us trust MON judgement.

I want to know where this 'we are skin' stuff is coming from. Yes we tightened our belts a little last year due to ffp and cut 75% loss. We do however have a billionaire owner so its up to him. Added to that probably top 6 highest season tickets sales in the country we can compete with anyone financially outside the top 4 or 5 bar Liverpool.

I really dont think MON would be here if he wasn't guaranteed the finances to build his own team.

We'll spunk some serious wonga this summer on 3 or 4 quality players but the net figure won't be vast because we'll get some decent fees for a couple of our players.

I see, that's it. I'm no longer bothered about the Saha bit, just gossip right now, it does bother me some of the reactions. Yes we are looking at back up strikers and I understand that but thanks for reminding us MM. However I'm a Sunderland fan and want to read realistic but positive gossip.

I read how I should be happy because Saha can do the job but he is on a free, available but look at the long list of clubs reported to be after him, impressive indeed. I want my team to be competing with top ten clubs on the field and in the transfer market, not the top 4 but the top ten.

If this is to much ambition, if it's being unrealistic then I wish I had been told before I spent my £525 on renewing my season card.

Not every player we are going to sign is going to ooze quality, remember when we signed Bramble? Think everyone said 'What the f**k' but he turned out a good player, excluding off field antics

Anyway MON signs players similarly to Cloughie in the way that he can mold them to what he wants, Saha played a similar system at Everton of 4-4-1-1 and therefore has striking experience as well as the tactical experience, although I admit fitness wise, apart from the last 6 months he has been rather worrying

However i would take Saha on a free as he used to be a brilliant player and will still have a little bit of class in him, even if its just a 1 year pay as you play deal, its a striker, something we need, someone who can score goals

    IN MON WE TRUST!

I am aware of all of that and all I said was that the gossip of us signing Saha leaves me cold, and it does and the in MON we trust, yes but unlike some it seems it does not mean for me just follow blindly.

If we started on a magic carpet ride and now have the best manager we have had for years then why should we start and set our sights on a cast off that nobody else seems to want.

well its a thread built on gossip and the gossip says only clubs abroad but hey, if it makes you feel better to change things to fit then change away.

This "in MON we trust" line is becoming so cheesy now, he's managed you half a season and already hailed as a god who does no wrong<laugh>

Nobody wants Saha, yet Spurs, 3rd in the league took him in January, and the one spurs fan to post on the thread was very positive about him.

I'd see Saha getting 10 goals, can we say that about any of the current crop??

not by everyone, I am a MON fan but have worshiped to many false gods in my time so he is now a very good manager but, IMO, the failure to bring in a striker in January was a failing and he carries the can for our end of season slump. Big season ahead and Saha does nothing to cheer me.
