Haven't been to Hartlepool or Donny's new ground yet, so tempted to get there and tick them off the list. Grimsby is probably the only one that stands out though. Will there be any at home other than the Al Alhy one, that's in the pipeline?
I was about to complain that there isn't a home one planned, but actually with the Rotherham game being more or less a final warm-up friendly it might be for the best. I can't see many people bothering to turn up for a home friendly against Motherwell or someone if we're playing a semi-competitive cup game a few days later.
Have Hartlepool got a new ground?!? So no home fixtures. Hmmm. I'm not bothered about seeing them at home, but assuming we make some signings the first game they will ever play will be competitive. I think a friendly to bed them in, get used to it etc wouldve been wise. Or are we resting the pitch?
I'm surprised at the price for the concessions at the Donny game which I will hopefully go to along with Winterton. Two grounds to check off the list
Is Ferriby always that expensive? I always go but I can't remember. £9 seems a lot for a semi-professional team, especially when the League clubs we are playing charge similar prices.
It does seem a little steep, but I can't remember what it was last year tbh. I like going to Church Road though and there'll be some goals for sure.
The facebook page suggests there may be more than one home fixture to be confirmed, but as Westhull said on the other thread, that would make an awful lot of friendlies
Its not that bad as its cheap to get there. Plus we are putting money into a local club that needs it. I will be there. I makes no sense at all to play a home game prior to Rotherham in the cup. Play all friendlies away and get the fans buzzing with antisipation.. Much better that way to get a bigger crowd for the cup game. Plus its nice to visit some old time grounds that have had a face lift and a lick of paint since City last played there. Hartlepool in August instead of a cold February springs to mind.
I'll have to ask my 7 year old lad see if he can get me some cheap tickets as he is about to sign for North Ferriby!!!!!!
Quite fancy going to Rochdale and Hartlepool, haven't been there since my early days of supporting city. Trip down memory lane!
Looking at the FL show last season both grounds look most impressive ? well compared to what they did look like in days gone by.
There is an extra week to pre-season this year, though isn't there. Players are still back as usual first week of July, but the games don't start until the 18th August. I'd imagine that's why there's extra friendlies.
Monday, July 16, 7.30pm: North Ferriby (away). £9 adults, £5 concessions Tuesday, July 17, 7.30pm: Winterton Rangers (away). £6 adults, & £4 concessions Friday, July 20, 7.30pm: Grimsby Town (away). £12 adults, £8 concessions, £5 under-14s Saturday, July 28, 3pm: Rochdale (away). Admission prices TBC Tuesday, July 31, 7.30pm: Doncaster Rovers (away). £10 adults, £1 concessions Saturday, August 4, 3pm: Hartlepool United (away). £10 adults, £5 concessions Hull City will also send development sides to the following three clubs as part of their pre-season schedule when they intend to visit Bridlington Town, Brigg Town and Boston United during the build up to the season opener against Rotherham United in the Capital One Cup First Round week commencing August 13th ---------------------------- Ther aren't any "big" clubs on the list, last season we had Liverpool & the rumoured pre-season with Egyptian giants El Ahly hasn't materialised by the looks of it. Are we worried about the lack of quality City will face? Plus, no home fixtures?? perhaps one will be added at a later date, fans like to see a new boss's team surely...
I think somebody on here said a home fixture or two were still to be announced. The club don't communicate with us too much these days do they.
Yeah on the official facebook page they said they were waiting for a home game to be confirmed before they announced it. Seen as we're playing Rotheram on the 11th, i'd guess there will only be one more friendly. Im guessing it will be in the week between Grimsby and Rochdale, or maybe between Hartlepool and the Rotheram cup game.
i wouldnt advise anybody to go to hartleppol or rochdale i went to oldham a few years ago, seemed like a good idea at the time, all i can remember is being so bored i nearly cried all the way through the second half...wont catch me doing that again...
