Half of me is wondering if Ferrari is just trying to unsettle Vettel and Red Bull.
If he did sign to Ferrari for 2014 then 2013 would be an awkward season in the team lol

If anything 2013 would incite RBR to entirely focus on Seb or risk losing him in 2014. I'm certain this new contract involves at least 1 WDC to be added to his tally to stay until the end of his current contract.

Seb is a very wanted man and RB desperately want to keep him there at any cost.

Well if they're talking this openly about it now 18 months before his contract is up then they must either be confident about getting him or have other agenda's :bandit:

Its a partnership that I'm sure will be strong but maybe have a fuse a little to short.

I think Lewis in an Adrian Red Bull would have something to say about that!

That's if Newey and about 50 personnel are still there if Seb does leave for Ferrari because their contracts are joined with Sebs, they might jump ship to Ferrari with him, bit like Schumacher and Benneton.

Alonso looked a bit uncomfortable being asked those questions about Seb coming in 2014 in that press interview. Then having to state he had no control on who came in or out but just his opinion, and it was up to the principal and director to decide who comes in for the whole team, ouch! He also seemed a bit avoiding when mentioning that Massa could stay on, yet even then he didn't look that convinced, so maybe Webber is coming in for a year.

If Newey went to Ferrari I would honestly be well and truly shocked. Ferrari have spent who knows how much on their design team in the last two years and I've always had the impression Newey dislike Ferrari as awhole.

This has gotten to the point where there is no such thing as "silly season". The season is silly as a whole.

Ted Kravitz: "Just a point also about Felipe Massa, he finished 16th and many in the paddock thinking that the talk about Vettel and Alonso being in the same team in Ferrari was just a bit of a smokescreen for what they're thinking about doing with Felipe Massa and that really is an issue at the moment."

I still think Vettel has an option with Ferrari, and I'm looking forward to seeing two multiple world champions fighting it out in the same car. It really could go either way, depending on how much Vettel improves as a driver. Right now I'd say Fernando is still the top dog in F1.

Remember that Alonso and Kimi also signed for three years when they came to Ferrari.

One of our correspondents for the pre-show in Valencia had an interview with Mark Webber and the main questions were about whether he could go to Ferrari next year, and he was uncannily cagey in his responses. I may not have a degree in behavioural psychology, but his responses and general uncomfortable behaviour gave a lot away.

Would Vettel really want to go to Ferrari when he could be made to look average against Alonso? Let's face it, even Hamilton or Webber would be second best at a team where Alonso pulls the strings and call the shots. Ferrari aren't known to backing two drivers; even when both are world class.

Ahhh, but that's what they thought with Senna going to McLaren didn't they... All the talk that Prost was number 1 in the team and he pulled all the strings and that Senna was foolish to go up against him considering what his reputation was of defeating a vast array of top drivers.

He might or he might not be able to beat Seb if he came in to join him. All Ferrari cares about is winning everything and they pull the strings not Alonso. This belief Alonso has a say over the likes of the director and the principal just doesn't seem likely, maybe a big opinion with the direction but in the end Ferrari decides what goes on with their own team. They need to ditch Massa to help their push for a construction title and Alonso can't do it himself and he can't last in F1 as long as Seb considering the age gap.

Seb getting beat by Alonso would be a blessing in disguise as it would only push him even more to change that the next year. 2014 is a long way and Seb still has areas to rub out and I would be quite confident of his ability at that point. I believe he is off Alonso, but only a small bit as the speeds there easily, the hunger is there, the brain is there, all he really has to do is focus on setup and even more consistency which comes with experience and after this year and next he will be complete I believe.

    Vettel + Alonso (2014) = Hamilton + Alonso (2007)

    Chaos.

I would love to see Seb at Ferrari. Alonso needs a challenge from within. Too often in his career he's been the total focus of his team. If he could take on Vettel it would go a long way to putting the argument that he needs it to rest.
