Hadn't spotted this before, but just seen that Saha was released by Spurs last month. Would anyone have him back at the Cottage? I know - too old, injury prone etc, but a big part of me would love to see him back in a Fulham shirt.

I feel the same. Imagine if he gave us one last good season.

Would be fun. Especially (with apologies guys, cos I posted this last month) with Luis Boa Morte (only 34 !) has left his South African club. How about a return for the two Luis; him and Saha (only 34 !) ???

It's never the same when you go back to an old club, but if it worked out as well for us as Andy Cole's second spell here then I would welcome Saha back. He left in bad taste but a lot has happened since then, and afterall, what footballer could refuse a move from Fulham to Utd? Smalling and VDS certainly couldn't. I'd have him as a back up to replace Saha (not on the physio table) but we would still need two quality strikers to lead the line.

Funnily enough I was thinking about this the other week. The thing with Saha is the way that his injuries impact on his form. My impression of him at Everton was that when he stayed fit and had a run of games, he was still as good as any striker outside the top four clubs - he had a number of golden patches for Everton when the goals were regularly going in and he was a real star. But before too long he would pick up an injury and when he came back from one he always needed a run of games to get back up to that level. If you could guarentee the fit-and-bedded-in Saha, he'd be perfect for the way Jol wants to play. My worry would be how many games he missed and (more dangerously) how many games he would need while building back up to optimum performance levels, keeping other players out of the side as he did so. If Jol wants to play the 4-2-3-1 or similar, that means not having a striker that we can expect any reasonable return from for several games. There's a joke to be made there about AJ/Zamora/your scapegoat of choice, but I'll walk tentatively around that one.

Some kind of pay-as-you-play deal might work, but even that wouldn't get round the problem of building him back up after each injury. It would be great to see him back, but I suspect it would be a mistake.

According to reports on various websites I've seen today it looks as though Louis is off to Sunderland

Keeping with the Sunderland theme, I wouldn't mind us going for Bendtner to replace Pogrebnyak. He did well at Sunderland on loan last season and impressed with Denmark at the Euro's and would not come with an inflated price tag, despite his obviously inflated ego. Anyone agree?

Not sure we want to sign a player whose idea of a goal celebration is to show his commercially sponsored pants - but going by his record at the Gunners and Sunderland we would not be seeing them much!!

I seem to recall lengthy debate about Bendtner in at least one previous close-season. His goal-record for Denmark is impressive; at club level not so much. My feeling is that we can do better (and that's if we sign someone who is only half as good as Bendtner thinks he is).

Bentner wouldn’t be top of my list but I think we could do a lot worse. He has always shown great potential (in my opinion) but never really fulfilled it. He didn’t start off that well at Sunderland but like a lot of the plays picked up under MON. I know arsenal are looking to sell him so I image the transfer fee wouldn’t be an issue but I imagine he wage demands may be. I read somewhere his last contract at Arsenal was 50K/week.
