Agreed - credit where it's due. I think Gerrard has been quality this competition so far. I thought he was past it but so far he has lead by example in every game and been by far Englands best player in the comp so far in my opinion.

 

Yes. Gerrard once again had a decent game. Probably our best player overall so far

 

I thought the whole team did well last night , the first half was really dull.. Only iffy performance was Milner but he didn't really do anything wrong, just look a bit ****..

Nothing against Rooney it's just that Carroll and Wellbeck were playing well and I don't think it should be changed, Rooney should be coming off the bench while they are both playing well.

 

Not so sure about this best player thing though. **** meant to edit not quote myself. Look like I'm talking to myself.

 

If England's 'best player' can do nothing but give the ball away, run into cul-de-sacs and show an alarming lack of pace then I say drop the ****.

Rooney is quality.

His movement off the ball is oustanding. Anyone questioning how good Rooney is has obviously never seen him play live ( at the ground not on TV ).

Rooney is a good player of course, but the media sycophancy does my head in.

 

It does my head but we all must know our media are only doing this to set him up for a fall when England go out

I've not got a problem with Rooney in the team, to me Young should have been dropped, and Wellbeck should have played from the left. Young has been dire so far, defensively a liability, and not much better going forward. To drop Carroll after his performance in the Sweden game was ridiculous, and it showed last night. Until he came on we had no one who could hold it up and bring other players into play. I give Rooney the benefit of the doubt due to lack of match sharpness, but if he plays like that against Italy, we have no chance.
