    Good Morning Everyone,

So, a 33/34 y/o left back by the name of Adam Drury becomes our second signing, and signs a two year deal with us. Norwich hold him in high regards, is that only because he has been with them for 10 years? Is a two year contract too long for somebody of his age? Where the hell are Ipwich, why aren't they sniffing about?

Two other players that should be playing at ER next season are Lee Peltier and Paddy Kenny (even though YWBK upset him yesterday) <laugh>

How would we feel if first game of the season our starting line up started

    Kenny
    Drury
    Peltier
    Lees
    Pearce

    Is that any better then

    Lonergan
    Connolly
    White
    O'Dea
    Lees

These are not really the high profile players I had in mind when our season finished in May, nethertheless, in Warnock we trust!!! Or do we??? That should be one of our topics of conversation. Do we trust Warnock (as obviously we know he has his hands tied to some extent)?

    Morning Elland

It is certainly better than our previous line-up but I still cannot understand why we are in for Kenny when we have Lonners, are we really gonna earn that much more than 500k (which is what we are supposedly going to pay for Kenny) and if not its certainly not worth it. Peltier doesn't sound that fantastic either but he has to be better than Connolly.

I have been happy with the 2 first signings but if the next 2 are kenny and peltier I will be underwhelmed

Well said Josh. Drury and Pearce would be better then O'Dea and Connolly, but Peltier v White, it has to be White, surely????

Isn't Drury a Left back?? I don't really rate white much so I'd prefer some experience in there and if he is really as solid as the inbreds say he is I'd prefer Drury to white

Peltier probably is better than Connolly but then anyone is better than Connolly so I don't think you can really put it like that.

    Morning all...

The new look back for is miles ahead of last seasons. Drury arrived out the blue, no rumours, just swept quietly in. Pearce was a captain, he is young and along with Lees we might have two CB's that develop into something very special. Drury was also a captain, he is another leader on the pitch who can bring experience to the back line. If we get Peltier he is 25 and Kenny 34.

I have no idea what Kenny can bring to the team that Lonergan can't all I will say is that I was not impressed with the signing of Lonergan when we got him but he did prove to be better than Kasper so my fears were unjustified. While I am happy with Lonergan he still isn't one of the best keepers, maybe Kenny brings a more commanding presence to the back line, maybe he organises it better or see's dangers developing better? Warnock loves the guy so if we do indeed swap the two and hopefully make a few quid profit then there will probably be a bigger picture than just what we see as fans on the pitch.

Kenny knows how Warnock likes to do things, maybe he is Warnocks right hand man in defence, he's on the pitch eyes and ears and man responsible for barking out instructions and orders and keeping the back four on their toes.

    Morning Ristac,
I think I would rather keep White, than have Peltier. If Peltier is not good enough for lesta, why would we want their cast offs

Morning all. I'll reserve judgement on Drury until I see him play for us at ER in front of 30k+, rather than Carrow Road in front of somewhat less than that.

I really hope we aren't in for Kenny. Lonners is quite good enough & he knows Lees' game. Why waste money on an average keeper when we have far more urgent areas to waste.... er sorry spend money on.

Peltier is a right back though and I really could not imagine White playing in that position for us? Hopefully the takeover will go through and we can keep White and rotate him with Dury.

http://www.not606.com/showthread.ph...be-pawning-Lineker-s-fruit-amp-veg-stall-next! interesting split decision on Peltier with the Leicester fans - Take away ACKJ opinions as he knows **** all and it sounds like a possible decent signing.

I would imagine the fee would be nearer to £400k and I would imagine we would get at least £600k possibly more for Lonners, not a massive amount but IF the takeover doesn't materialise every penny will count. Peltier a pacey attacking right back and persuading Snoddy to sign a new contract, that would be something to look forward to next season.

Thanks for the Meooowww Elland. I'll pass that on to my cats. Its their first birthday today. Aaaah bless their cotton socks!!!.

Still can't see the business case for selling Lonners & replacing him with Kenny.

    Morning all,

'Hopefully the takeover will go through and we can keep White and rotate him with Drury.'

My impression from last season is that Warnock sees white as a winger and not a full back anyway so he is more likely to rotate with Pugh.

As has been said already in this thread maybe there is something we are not seeing as fans because personally I think Lonners is not only slightly better but much better. The things that fans do not see ie. controlling the defence, kenny may be somewhat better and louder. There's an obvious reason why Colin has wanted him wherever he has gone

Couldn't agree more and I think he is a better winger than a defender anyway. White is pacey and can knock it past someone and run, I mean look at Bale, thats only thing he has to offer and everyone thinks he's amazing. White cannot defend and gets pushed off the ball, either way I do not see him as a player who can be in a promotion contending team

Morning all, re the takeover I'm pretty sure there isn't going to be one. Someone in the press would have picked up on it by now, the rumours have been going on for weeks. Maybe there's been a small behind the scenes investment, something we'll never find out about, and nothing more than that. The club arent denying the takeover rumours because it suits them. It diverts attention from the lack of signings.

We paid 150k for Lonergan last season so no way would we fetch anymore than 300k for him.
