Guys, with all due respect, you are all making the same mistake here. Flyer always insists on having the last word. It does not bother him that most people disagree with him. He will argue with you until he suffocates you. Take my advice and just let him have the last word. We know that we can't all be wrong, prob is Flyer can't see that. He is always right.
He won't have the last word anymore =P I'll argue with him till then end when he is talking such bollocks! Lol
I'm not denying Kenny was awful, im with you on that one. But to say we had a ''pretty good'' defence last year is laughable.
It seems like not many QPR fans are wanting him anymore, not a good sign. Some of Lonergan's saves last year were some of the best I'd ever seen, he does have a lot of improvement to be done but with a good defence in front of him I can't see him conceding many
Must be just me, but i think Kenny's got a lot of critisism that he didnt deserve. Granted he wasnt the best in the league, but he was not our worst regular by any stretch..have you forgotten SWP, Tarbs, Berton, Hall etc. I defy any keeper to have a good season with that buch of ever changing fools in front of them.... As for this 30+ boLLX..its rubbish and there are planty of plyers who are and have been in the premiership that prove that. If thats what you believe then thats up to you but personally i think its a load of crap. As a qualified gym instructor and fitness coach, I can tell you fopr A FACT that when a person reaches their 30th birthday they do not just suddenly become unfit, slow and physically limited because of their chronologial age....I DEFY YOU TO PROVE ME WRONG? END OF!
You may be a qaulified gym instructor and fitness coach but your certainly not an english teacher But your overall point is not wrong. Ofcourse there are plenty of players around but I still do not claim that he is a class goalkeeper, he's never been fantastic and you have to admit that age does slowly creep in on all players as well not that they completely lose the ability to play
Dont disagree with any of that mate. The spelling is due to living in upside down land ! The fact that someone automatically becomes unfit aged 30 is absolutely ridiculous. if you want proof then try counting the 30+ athletes in the up-coming Olympics. I think you'll find they are fitter than most prem players !! I agree that for tha average person, fitness and reactions start to reduce when they get older, but, there is no set age AND we are not talking about average people. these are highly trained athletes with correct physical, mental and dietry support and advice. Tony Adams was a great example of what can be achieved with proper scientific training methods. just because Arsenal have an over 30's policy it doesn't make it gospel. After all they won f-all for a while now with an under 30 team !
I still manage it (or at least try) Yea of course its ridiculous, the fact that Scholes went into retirement and came back out and was still a decent player proved it I think. And even more relevant look at Shay Given and goalkeepers a similar age, he's still very good. Its not like a switch that players all of a sudden become inept after the age of 30. There are millions of examples for it
Seaman did, he went from one of the top keepers in the world to a joke. Some can keep it going like Van der Saar but most just get worse and the ones hit most by it are the ones who rely on pace, Owen and Johnson whiles the ones who are top class have a chance of going on. I also think Owen lost all ability very, very quickly. Ill take the likes of Wenger (only offering 1 year contracts) Hughes whos getting rid of Kenny and the scum getting rid of their best players because they werent sure he could carry on over people who think you shouldnt criticise any players. Hughes has bought old players but at least they were 2 year contracts, not 4 or 5.
Players like Scholes, Giggs or Wilkins never relied on pace in the 1st place. I guarantee you the likes of Walcott wont be in the PL at 35.
The banter back and forth has been amusing but this can't go un-answered. Giggs never relied on Pace in the 1st place? Are you George Bernard? He was one of the quickest wingers I have ever seen! Have you not heard the Utd chant "Ryan Giggs, Ryan Giggs running down the wing!"? Scholes yes, Wilkins yes, Giggs absofeckinlutely not.
We will see in another 4 years, my bet is he will be off to the US, UAE (like Johnson was thinking about) or China.
Yer in 3 or 4 years he is gonna go from one of the quickest players in the league to running in treacle! SWP is old now and saw him sprint past Lennon at white heart lane. You are stupid. Do you even watch football?
I'd go so far as to say that Giggs completely, 100% relied on pace because his crossing was atrocious until he started to get slower. Walcott is pretty similar to a young Giggs IMO. I'd also add that I'm glad we signed Paul Furlong in his 30s. The fact that keepers are not considered to be in their prime until their 30s (with no questions about their reflexed slowing) suggests that wear and tear (ie worn cartilages, recurrence of old injuries) are more of a factor for outfield players declining early than just physically being "past it". I suppose like cars, the better they're looked after in their early years, the longer they'll last.
