    I knew that already, but still a good video to present to those who aren't really musical <ok>.
    I've got a vid I'll post when I get to my computer of Iron Maiden down the years, that people might find interesting about the increasing loss of dynamic range, or what's known as the loudness wars.
    You'll have to connect your pc to some hifi speakers or this external systems you can get for the pc and then play it or you won't hear that much of a difference!

    yeah i heard about the loudness war in music tech, it means your attention is held to the record or something, meaning you're more likely to like it?

    Yeah, pretty much as well as the fact that radio stations had these high compression units so if you didn't adjust your track for radioplay they could come out too loud and distorted. This lead to people already mastering them hot (massively compressed), but at the expense of the dynamic range and then competition started to have the loudest songs when played (some songs/albums nowadays do massively distort because they're compressed that much).
    Oasis are the worst culprits and a main reason why I can't listen to them for more than 30 seconds as there's no proper build up and break downs - everything just sounds loud & there's nothing to their drums, they're all squished into the same range.
    If you want to hear a song that's quiet just turn it up!
    iPods and the way people listen to music doesn't help either since most listen on the little earbuds you get with them or through laptop speakers where something massively compressed will sound better, because it gets the best out of the frequency response of the speakers.

    There's an old RnB drum loop that is in practically every drum n bass/oldschool dance tune as well!

    It's the same as Metallica's latest album, excellent album musically, but the ****in producer made it too loud.

    It doesn't really make it sound that bad, but i downloaded the GH versions.

    EDIT: HAHA, i was typing that comment whilst you were making yours lol
