I've seen on a number of occassions where Parker panics when he is surrounded by players and ends up losing the ball. No doubt that he will put his body on the line but I think he technically limited in a role that requires more composure rather than just throwing your body about.

I think he can get panicky at times but generally he ha seemed assured all season for Spurs as he has for England where he gets more time on the ball and less pressure in his position.

To say he just throws his body around is wrong. If that was all he could do he wouldn't have been such a hit with us Spurs fans, as we soon got bored of Wilson Palacios only being able to do that..

Everyone has different opinions on players, Parker is one that seems to divide people. I'm not saying he's a terrible player, I'm just not a fan.

I think it's refreshing to see Parker 'throw his body about' and it wasn't meant as an insult. He definately has the passion and it shows on the pitch.

As I don't watch Spurs week in week out, I can only go by on what I have seen. I think he probably looks more assured in Spurs as it's a team that is good at keeping the ball and the attackers have more of the ball than England.

If we are thinking of who else? Danny Guthrie was brilliant for us this season. It's quite hard thinking of anyone else who's available. 'Pirouette Parker' does my head in. Run forward - Pirouette - Pass to CB. No wonder he gets creamed in every game, he's too predictable

I'm not Parkers biggest fan either but I will concede that I think Gerrard gets a bit more scope to play now that Fat Frankie isn't in the team <ok>

90% pass rate is easy when you are knocking it towards your keeper or cbs. you can be as inaccurate as you like and 90$ of the time it'll get to one of your lot.

parker aint that good but there is nobody around thats all that good and english anymore is there?

I think he deserves his place tbh.

I do agree Carrick could of done the job - we can't keep the ball and thats exactly what he does so well at United.

    Shame he's a bottle job.

To be fair the same could be said of most of the English players! Even Gerrard is quite one dimensional in that he generally gives the ball first time when under pressure and is one of the most one footed players England have. Not saying he hasn't been fantastic but using him as an example of why England don't win anything, you either need to be technically gifted or extremely lucky to win anything and England have neither!

I think Parker did a good job in the last 10 mins, used his face quite a lot though, another raft of backwards passes and the lad always gets hurt when a simple tackle will do. Milner was ****, i think he'd be far more effective if we use him in the centre of the park.

  13. Makes me laugh that I read comments moaning about England not sustaining possession followed by complaints about sideways passers. Passing the ball amongst yourselves, whether that be forwards, sideways or backwards, maintains possession. Whilst a team has possession the opposition are constantly moving and chasing which drains their energy levels. Sideways passing is not a bad thing and I certainly wouldn't want to see eleven players trying to make the killer pass every time <doh>

I'd take Barry over Parker, but Parker over Carrick.
