Well unless we lose all of our last games, and S****horpe win all theirs 6-0, we are in the Championship next year. The playoffs look out of reach, for even the most optimistic of Pompey fans (me). Steve has done an amazing job, galvanizing a threadbare squad, and creating a team spirit that, with better resources that are possibly just over the horizon, will make us a force to be reckoned with next year. If anyone thinks they can "walk" into Pompey, expecting easy pickings next season, they will be sorely mistaken. PUP!!
I am getting more and more excited by that thought all of the time. Agree with you Meowth that SC seems to have done a great job. With a shortage of funds he has cobbled together a good hard working unit that appears to have the fans onside as well. Pompey boards are far more cheerful now than they have been for a very long time.
With Saints looking the most likely side to join Brighton in the Championship (I'm not trying to tempt fate - honest ) we have some exciting derbies to look forward to. It's a petty Bournemouth look as if they might blow it though
With a bit of luck they can find a way back to their previous good form and still make the play-offs.
Pompey's poor start to the season looks costly now. Imagine if the side had won even 2 of the first 7 games. We'd have been in with a SHOUT.
I was feeling rather bullish yesterday! Yes, next season could be one to remember all right. Xmas derbies, end of season uppers and downers. Mood elevators all round.
If we were offered, back in August, SAFETY before the middle of April, I think 99% of us would had bitten the proverbial arm off, let alone the hand!
