Tottenham are in preliminary negotiations with French boss Laurent Blanc to be their new manager, Sky Sports News understands. Blanc is one of a number of candidates Spurs are understood to be talking to following the shock departure of Harry Redknapp last week. Redknapp was sacked after almost four years in charge, despite leading Tottenham to fourth place in the Premier League last season. The North London side agonisingly missed out on Champions League qualification after Chelsea won the competition to take their place.

I'd be happy with him as boss.

The guy is a pure winner.

If he were to be appointed, I just hope he wouldn't use us as stepping stone for when the Manchester United job eventually becomes available. Having said that, all the top managers are going to be linked with that spot when it becomes vacant.....

I'm not totally against AVB but I'd rather have Blanc or (ideally) Bilic. I'd be very pleased with his appointment

He's only contracted until the end of the Euros.

I get the feeling he's looking over the managers we won't have to pay clubs compensation for now, before moving on to the likes of Moyes, Moyes and Moyes.

I don't know much about him as i've mentioned, so from what i'm reading it's total stab in the dark, IMO.

potential to do very well, potential to fail.

whatever happens, i'm backing the new manager.

He spent two years at United and I'm sure he's given interviews in English before too. I still want Moyes but I'd be very happy with Blanc, more than the other contenders being touted so far.

If it goes tits up there's always the lost in translation card. As has been said, its so difficult to compare achievements in Europe to here, and I don't know enough about him really.

Yid,I'm scratching my head wondering why you want Moyes first and foremost. Blanc with the natural Gallic flair will have us playing some sweet stuff and I only see average at best with Moyes.

The bird table in my back garden has got more personality than Laurent Blanc, but I'd still take him over Villas-Boas any day of the week.

We need to build a longterm plan and I don't think the likes of Blanc and AVB would be hanging around if it went well and they got offered a job at a big money team. Moyes has shown loyalty at Everton and whilst he might not have always set up his team to win pretty he has bought several technically gifted players and got the best out of them who then end up leaving which makes it nigh on impossible to build a quality team to play good football. Every choice is a gamble of some sort but if we got Moyes we have someone with a lot of Premier League experience, someone who can work on a smaller budget if required, knows how to set up an organised defence and has a good eye for talented players who will fit into his team.
