Should have said that the first part is from wiki, hence the translation/clarification, not insulting anyone's intelligence. :bandit:

Formula 1 teams are considering a ban on tyre warmers for 2013

Surely they don't cost that much? All it will take is one car binning it on cold tyres and all that saving is down the drain.
If you make the tyres better at colder temperatures then they'll become more predictable, I just see it as loose loose.

I agree with the proposal to drop tyre-warmers. The saving may seem small but every little helps. But my real reason for wishing to see the last of them is that I prefer to see drivers having to do the work, rather than being pampered with a contrivance designed to equalise their differences.

    Tyre warmers…

    • + may give a small safety benefit until drivers and tyre manufacturers get used to the idea.
    • – have absolutely no relevance to road cars.
    • – do increase expense.
    • – put an artificial 'blanket' on differences between drivers, thereby making the competition more artificial.

    It's a simple equation.
    –Get rid of 'em!

McLaren seeks to reverse perception of 'cold' brand identity

As part of plans to reach a broader audience, including children, the manufacturer has partnered with visual effects company Framestore to create a new company called McLaren Animation.

The first project is a 12-part animated series called 'Tooned', featuring CGI versions of Hamilton and Button at McLaren's Woking headquarters, as well as a 'Professor M' character voiced by comedian Alexander Armstrong. The three-minute episodes will be screened prior to the start of each F1 Grand Prix on Sky's dedicated F1 channel, beginning this Sunday (7 July) ahead of the British Grand Prix.

McLaren is planning to extend the animated concept beyond the series through merchandise, digital games and potential "feature films" depending on the success of the venture.

In all seriousness it was pretty good, liked how they captured the subtle rivalry between the two

It was on this day in 1971 that Mex Pedro Rodriguez lost his life, Rodríguez was considered one of the best driver of his era in the wet and amassed 71 points in F1 between 1963-1971 (54 races).

I actually quite like the idea - I'm a big fan of Mario Kart and if anyone remembers Blur that was a great game too IMHO. At the same time I think they've missed a trick - why is there no Wii or WiiU release planned? Surely it's the perfect console for a more family-friendly kart-racing style F1 game.

Don't worry - the official game (the originally-titled F1 2012) is still slated for release in September.
