I hate supporters who 'slag off' a good servant to their club. Didn't do too bad putting 3 past us did he? I bet the 'sicknotes' 'ability' wasn't bad then? And before you talk about ambition, how come you are losing 'Pog' to Reading?
And so AJ, bless him, leaves with the following cringingly awful words ( I'll just post the link in case you can't bare the risk to your PC or don't have a 'cat to kick') http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/jun/18/qpr-andrew-johnson-ryan-nelsen Hopefully we can now puts matters AJ and this thread to rest !
I think most players have the same script to read from so i would not worry too much. You know... Blah blah blah 'Bigger Club' 'great fans' 'great ambition' blah blah blah. i mean they are not going to say blah blah 'Step backwards' 'crap fans' 'club going nowhere' are they?
Fond farewell AJ, despite being viewed more highly than Marlet, you shall forever keep your silver medal in the 'Fulham flops' category. A real shame he decided to dig his heels in over the Wigan deal. We could have gotten Rodallega on a free by now.
You have a strange definition of 'good servant'. He spent probably 50%, maybe more of his time with us injured. And I assume Pog is going to Reading because we didn't offer him a contract. He was on loan to us from Stuttgart until the end of the season, and his contract there has expired so he's now a free agent. Sorry to piss on your strawberries.
Although the weirdest thing he said was this bit about Mark Hughes: 'Being an ex-player, he knows what players want and expect. He’s excellent with the players. He speaks to them and he’s on the same level as them.' Are there any managers who aren't ex-players, whatever level they plied their trade at?
You have not 'pissed on my strawberries' i just thought most Fulham fans i spoke to seemed to think 'Pog' was good for you? Anyway i was actually talking about the disrespect shown for AJ. I wonder if you will be so disrespectful when Dempsey goes?
AVB? The Pog was good to begin with then tailed off. He would still be a good signing as we are short on strikers, but Jol may have thought differently - if he isn't trying to sort a deal out at all. And you're comparing AJ with Dempsey? Really?
No but you have lost Zamora/AJ and you don't seemed bovered about 'Pog' so who is going to play upfront for you?
About 20k a week wages apparently, not too bad considering the transfer fee was free, but still 20k more than i'd like
Good afternoon all, back off hols in which time I did not venture into the 606 columns. Looking back nothing startling jumps out at me recently posted in the FFC pages. AJ gone ? will not be missed looking at his atrocious record at the cottage, and his 30 grand p/w will add to this seasons wage coffers. I Wish him well. The Pog served us well when arrived, but appears that his wage demands may,in JOLS eyes not be worth the gambol on his future ability. In another 2/3 week it may become clearer who MJ has in mind for us to progress up the "prem" ladder, fingers crossed he will do us proud.
We criticise players for moving for more money but we'd all do the same if we were in a profession we know and love etc but I see at as a sensible move for AJ and Both Fulham and QPR for many reasons. AJ is in his twilight years, by moving to QPR he can link up with his friend and old strike partner Zamora. This is not about who has more ambition than who it's about the player. By moving to QPR AJ doesn't have to move home, move his kids to a different school, can go to the same bars and clubs for his leisure time. Why is that such a bad thing at 31 years of age? Secondly it's good for Fulham who are trying to revamp the squad. You've lowered the wage bill and average age of the squad. AJ is past his best IMO and I don't think he could really offer much to you, certainly not anymore than Ruiz or Dempsey could in that role. Good move for QPR who lets not forget are bidding to become a fully established team and compete in the top half of the PL. In many ways it is like Chelsea under Hoddle. They have upgrading facilities, training ground, etc. Rome wasn't built overnight. City didn't just sign Aguero in 2008 when the Sheikhs came in, they had to start off with a lower standard of player like Santa Cruz to entice bigger and better names. I'm not saying QPR will be a City as there isn't the infrastructure in place to do that plus FFP. It can't be nice to lose players to your big rivals from across the road but it happens. Cudicini is still considered a hero for us despite playing for Spurs in his twilight years, same with Gudjohnsen, G*llas isn't for differing reasons
Voice of reason again. DL you should be a QPR supporter mate. Agree with that. I said ealier AJ would be good for us, as he brings needed experience to the team. I also said we would not set the world a light but would be harder to beat. It's a good deal all round and Fulham fans should respect him.
Bet AJ will be fit for our games? We know how old players come back to haunt you. Not good enough as a starting CF in my view, not quick enough either nor strong enough. Good luck to him.
He's moved to our local rivals, he cost us £10m (I know, not his fault) then spent years on the treatment table on £30k a week. Why do you think we need to give him our utmost respect? He'll always be remembered for getting a hat trick against you guys, but he was a flop for us. I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say I wish him well, but he's no great loss. We still have Sa and Trotta to play up front. The transfer window hasn't even opened yet anyway!
I have to say I’m pleased he’s gone the fact he has gone to Rangers is irrelevant to me really. Good luck to him you can blame him for leaving. I wouldn’t leave Fulham for Rangers as I’m a Fulham fan the same way Ellers wouldn’t leave Rangers or Fulham or District leave Chelsea as we support these clubs. AJ Isn’t a Fulham or Rangers fan and football is his living so if someone offers him a few quid more or a longer more secure contract I don’t think you can blame him. If one of my employer’s competitors approached me with a better salary I wouldn’t think twice and I don’t think anyone on here would either. Plus the fact is we let him go. Jol could have signed him but decided he wasn’t worth the money. I the think a lot of people over look is for the last 18 months he has been rubbish…. 3 league goals in 20 in the PL last season. And they were all against Rangers. In sort if he hadn’t had AJ last season and Martin Jol had played himself up front we would have exactly the same points the only downside is that we would have potentially had a 3 less in out goal different. And I recon big Mart would have scored at least one against Rangers… He may have even scored more than AJ. Good bye AJ but I won’t miss you…
Bidley I'm sure you're in my head because this is word for word what I was going to say. We don't owe AJ any sort of respect, Dempsey would leave with our best wishes as he has consistently played and scored for us and would leave bringing more money in for us. AJ cost us £10m, Dempsey would make us at least £6m. AJ was our third choice striker even when Zamora was here and that has not changed. I don't think many FFC fans will be sorry to see him leave to be honest. I always admired his tireless running but a striker needs more tricks up his sleeve than being able to chase lost causes. As Bidley said, the window hasn't even opened yet! If the season were to start tomorrow we would both be in dire straits. We would have no decent recognised striker and your only additions are OAP's adding to your injury list.
