Cheers, Tewks. I read that the FA may allow the two clubs to play on the Saturday (11th) if agreed. Will this constitute our home friendly? Talk about a glamour tie...!
The one thing this start will do is give us a very early indication indeed of how good we are and how much remedial work needs to be done (if any) - I expect these two clubs to be there or thereabouts all season and for Leicester to fill one of the automatic promotion spots.
PEA, the Orient CoC game now set for Tuesday 14th Aug. I notice that the Jill's friendly is £15 but the Orient CoC game is £10..... so 50% EXTRA for a friendly game to sit in a scaffold stand? What's that all about?
It should be a good game between us at the Valley. Chris Powell is well loved here, Michael Morrison will get a decent applause as will Dany N'Guessan if you sign him. But Yann will get alot of abuse after what he did Still should be a good game
I hope so, Yann seems like the kind of man who will thrive under any sort of pressure. Looking forward to the game, as Tewkes said, I think Leicester will be top 2 (premature, but already have a strong squad and will strengthen further).
I would wait and see what happens with us yet Sol Bamba left today, Matt Mills looks like going Bolton, Lee Peltier is off to Leeds, We are trying to get rid of Jermaine Beckford Just got to wait and see who Nigel brings in
What I would say Proud mate is that if it is 1-1 and going into injury time and we get a pen, then watch Kermit chip it down the middle for the winner I'm sure Jacko would step aside
There are six friendlies shown on the charlton fixture list on the OS: Sat 14 July Welling United away Wed 25 July Bromley away Sat 28 July Barnet away Tue 31 July Bury Town away Wed 1 Aug Crawley Town away Sat 4 Aug Jills away With Orient at home on the 14 August - could be re arranged for 11th August there is still room for another fixture to be arranged. Also the gap between 14 and 25 July was supposed to be a training camp in Spain but no details of any friendlies out there have been announced as yet.
St Andrews, nice friendly ground. Let's hope the result is better than the last time I was there in the PL I think.
Looking forward to it already, I've been to Villa Park but not St Andrews. Also see that we play Middlesbrough away the penultimate game of the season - scope for another Operation Riverside?
Birmingham away is like getting the ugly sister first....still at least we can get it out the way with early
Amen to that, Ken - two of the worst performances I've ever seen - so much expectation, so much letdown. And do you remember they left the pictures on the OS for months afterwards, right into the next season?
