With the fixtures being released on Monday, the excitement is really starting to build . Who are we hoping that our first fixture will be? I want to wait till Palace/Millwall- Let the banter build for a while. I wouldn't mind a trip to Brighton first (sunny day in Brighton), Bolton (though I'm not a fan of the Reebok) or Leicester. Three good teams that we can test ourselves against and show our intentions from the off that we aren't here to make up the numbers. Have we officially been told that the first few games will be played away from the Valley due to the Olympics? Or was that inaccurate?
I can't see how any London fixtures will be postponed due to the Olympics. That would cause logistical nightmares for the FA and the clubs involved. Has our pre-season fixture list been sorted yet?
I think Barnet and Welling have been announced, with Fulham behind closed doors not confirmed by either club. I understand another tour is being planned, but thats second hand information.
And for me, Stu - I think it's my closest game this season. Logistics nightmare or not Ponders, that's what they're planning to do. Absolutely bonkers IMO.
Normally you see promoted clubs play relegated clubs on the first day - so I reckon we'll get Blackburn, Wolves or Bolton and it'll be away.
Birmingham away then Leicester at home - a tough start but exactly what the team should be relishing. Palace at home on September 15th and Millwall 1st of December. Has anyone picked up on how tough our run in appears?
Super, the run in being tough will depend on our form during the season, it may look awkward now but if the season pans out nicely then it could be just a comfortable doddle. Don't start getting panicky at this stage!
Don't get me wrong, I like it, but as things stand it is tough - one of the toughest in comparison to some of the teams who's fixtures I've looked at.
Hmm. Would have preferred Brum away to be midweek as I spend a lot of work time there so it would have been a free trip. Miss Watford at Home due to annual golf trip to Portugal - that could have been worse as its not one of the fixtures that I'd have been crying over missing. Difficult to judge whether we've got it tough or not until we see how everyone's form pans out, including ours. One thing's for sure, it'll be tougher than last season. Looking forward to it though
Might try to get to the Birmingham game, would be good to go. Lots of midweek games in the midlands I notice.
Although before my time, we have history at St Andrews and any time I've been there it's been a good day out due to the memories it holds to many of our fans . Plus it's near my family in Stratford Upon Avon so there is always a family booze up afterwards
