Andy Carroll had a fantastic game against Sweden, he put in a great shift. I think he should keep his place with Young making way for Rooney and Welbeck playing in that position. Milner has been quite bad during these two games, but with Walcott injured it's him that will play as the Ox won't fulfill the defensive responsibilities.

Can someone explain to me why J. Henderson gets so much criticism apart from the fact that it's the "in vogue" thing to do?

Have you ever seen him play?

He's a non entity of a player. I'm not a Henderson expert but whenever I've seen him he does nothing, literally.

He isn't worth what Liverpool paid for him, in fact he's worth around 20% of what they shelled out for him.

I'd rather Leon Osman was in the squad.

I have seen him play, and I don't think he is as bad as people claim. Liverpool overpaid for him absolutely but he gets far too much criticism.

I don't agree with you about Bo, but you are right about Henderson. I've seen him play some great matches for the u21's, one bad season at Liverpool doesn't make him a bad player, maybe that's something to do with the manager they just had who probably wasn't the best to bring on young players like him and Carroll. Henderson will thrive under their new manager.

Good game to watch and for once England show some spirit to come back after the kamikazee defending at the start of the 2nd half. Nice Welbeck back heel flick for the winner. Carroll also used very well as the battering ram and his header for the 1st goal was akin to Chris Chilton in his heyday. :emoticon-0103-cool:

O/T...who would have thought the Dutch would go out after the group stages and with Nil points ? Denmark were robbed, lucky crouts. Bendtner should have had a penalty when 1-1. Oh well.

It's the fact that, along with a few other Liverpool players in the squad, he's done nothing special all season and has made the national team. It's partly due to the likes of Carrick thinking they are too cool to be on the standby list, and they have taken their share of criticism too. He hasn't done a great deal wrong, but he really shouldn't be England material. It's a sad state of affairs when we're taking maybe our 10th or 11th best central midfielder to a tournament.

I don't mind Henderson, a decent tidy play. The thing is for £18m people expect a world beater. It wasn't his fault Liverpool paid a stupid fee for him.

You're right about that incident at the end of the match. He looked out of form to me, Milner is much much worse though.

Ashley Young IMO should be the one to make way for Wayne Rooney. Play a 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 formation with Rooney and Welbeck playing off Andy Carroll. Ukraine MUST WIN nothing else will do so England have no need to open up the game. Parker and Milner can sit deep and protect the defence. Gerrard can do what he likes within reason. Job done.

Agreed, but there's the fact that Rooney's gone out and said that they want to go out there and win. Roy will go attacking because he won't want to be accused of being negative.
    Very unpredictable this Ukraine game.

... you mean it's only fair to let Croatia or Italy have the opportunity to humiliate us?

Unless the rumours that Spain and Croatia are fixing a 2-2 draw to send Italy home, I think we'd have to finish second to let Croatia humiliate us....

Would be ironic if Italy, a country where football corruption is notoriously rife, we're to e knocked out the same competition for the 2nd time in a decade by corruption <laugh>

Indeed. But doubts over Shevshenkos fitness,, knee injury. England can still attack but attack with method not gung ho. Gung Ho has to be the Ukraine tactics. Its sh.it or bust for them.

I can see your thinking but Ukraine are poor when teams draw them wide, so with that system how would you do that? Clearly Young cuts in so doesn't help a great deal but he does drag his man wide, and Walcott will drag his man wide. Rooney can play in the hole with Wellbeck on the last man, i also feel Young has one bad game and gets dropped, Milner has never had a good game on the wing and he isn't there. One thing i don't get is the fact Mancini has not played Milner on the wing for two season, where as Johnson who comes on, on the wing instead of Milner coming on isn't here.

Fair points well made. Well IF the game is still 0 - 0 after an hour Ukraine will simply push more men forward. Thats when i open up the game more. Bring on The OX and Theo(if fit). We are gonna ru not having Adam Johnson in the squad. Milner is better in defensive role imo.
