Unconfirmed reports of Arsenal's opening fixtures on twitter and we are rumoured to be playing them, in the third game of the season.
It's announced tomorrow morning, but I think it all gets sorted out by the computer before hand (I believe so that Sky etc can then pick their games, and thus adjust the fixture times accordingly, before the annoucement is made...I could be making this completely up though!)
Yeah, I suppose but Sky usually announce their live games a bit later in the day. I may be wrong though. I assumed it was done at a press of a button (obviously with filters ie Liverpool and Everton can't play at home on the same day). Uncomfirmed reports on a Sunday though?
They will have been done and sent round to media by now under the header "not to be released until 9am Monday" or something. Still sounds like bollocks to me.
It isn't a "draw" like a cup draw and it isn't random. It is a process that takes a long time to sort out and takes into account many factors. This explains it... http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2009/06/secrets_of_the_fixture_compute.html As for the Arsenal rumour a Saints youth team player has Tweeted this earlier today... Its actually really long complicated and meticulous. There was a video on the whole thing on the bbc website its staggering how much work is put into the fixtures, for any teachers or close relatives of teachers it's very similar to timetabling in the work and thoughts that have to go into it.
I know there is probably no set rule about it, but I doubt 2 promoted teams would play each other on opening day....how boring would that be? Pause while you all prove me wrong.
