Wouldn't it be richly ironic if tomorrow's match between Spain and Croatia finishes 2-2 thus sending the Italians home? Italy, which has been dogged by match-fixing scandals for years, would then have the brass neck to claim a conspiracy! A check of the odds shows that the bookies are taking no chances offering an unbelievable 4/1 against a 2-2 scoreline that would normally be double-figure odds. I'd love to see such a scenario just for the inevitable fall-out...

You know whats funny, Just have "20 on the pitch" on this seasons shirt referring to the 2 titles they have taken away due to match fixing.

How stupid and obnoxious is that, any team can win the title if the opponents let them win and somehow they think they deserved it?

That's funny, I don't remember the Italians being accused of fixing International matches. I must have been out that day.

You just can't contain your indignation for other Countries can you? 12th has shown his Colours on another thread just now as well.

Where does this condescending attitude come from?

In English schools, Swords, we have condescension lessons...or do I mean comprehension lessons? I forget now, I never did listen

Very good Goldie. Although, I'm certain this is not the case. Not judging by the scores of people I've met on my visits to your great land.

Honestly though, there's been countless posts by a number of people since the Euro's started that have me at a loss to understand why they're coming across so arrogant.

Seriously, can some-one please explain where all the humble decent guys have gone only to be replaced by contemptuous, snobbish alter-egos?

Isn't it just the football fan's thing of slagging off a competing team? If it was the Prem, it would be Chelsea and Norwich. Since it's the Euro's it's every country whose team might yet play and beat us - which is a sizeable list!

No its not because the majority of the contempt has been directed at UEFA and the host Nations which is entirely off-field stuff.

Its opened my eyes to something ugly that I had no idea even existed. It just goes to show that despite all our achievements in every area and huge technical advancement, as a species, us humans are still very primitive, insular and fearful.

Its been amusing to see what I thought were intellectual and Worldly people revert to a state of narrow-minded, dim-witted Jingoism.

We truly are a wretched lot.

Well, hello again Swords, opening your big gob and getting the wrong end of the stick again. You really should engage your brain before giving us the benefit of your shyte. The Italians are currently embroiled in a match-fixing scandal which has had the Italian President threatening to suspend all Serie 'A' football for two to three years and also, at one stage, threatening to withdraw their team from these championships. I merely pointed out the irony of them already claiming that Spain and Croatia may be conspiring to have a convenient 2-2 draw to eliminate them. It's THEIR conspiracy theory, not mine.

Can no-one on this board post anything that Thought-Policeman Swords fails to take umbrage with? You're like some kind of **** out of Orwell's 1984...

So those are the rules of this forum: No-one can make any negative comment regarding any team or player from another country without being labelled a xenophobe. Perfect for the Euros and the next World Cup. So tell us what we can post Mr Perfect...

You can post whatever you want, it ain't up to me.

But don't expect a free reign when you preach archaic tribalism in 2012.

I thought there was a lot of articulate discussion going on.

I'm not the most patriotic person in history and don't believe that life stops at geographical boundaries but do think there's bribery at the highest levels of football.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist either.
