For me it's a no. Don't know why, just a gut feel that the player isn't quite right. http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/hughes-ponders5-move61-for-aston-villa-man/ Hughes ponders move for Aston Villa man 17/06/2012 by David McIntyre QPR have been offered the chance to sign Aston Villa midfielder Stephen Ireland. Ireland played under Rangers boss Mark Hughes at Manchester City and would like to be reunited with him at Loftus Road. A possible deal to sign the 25-year-old was discussed following Hughes’ appointment last season, but the idea was shelved. It is believed Villa would consider offers for Ireland, who joined them in 2010 in an exchange deal involving James Milner. Hughes is considering a number of possible signings and is keen to capture at least one midfielder in addition to Samba Diakite. The permanent signing of Diakite from Nancy, which was agreed in January, can go ahead now Rangers have stayed in the Premier League and is expected to be rubber-stamped in the next few days. Would Stephen Ireland be a good signing for QPR?
No, hes a head case. If we did sign him it would have to be for a small fee and acceptable wages. Plus, he looks over 30!
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ideal replacement for Barton. Arrogant, egotistical, inconsistent, unloved twat. Had a good season a long time ago.
Well if Kerry says no then it's a no from me too. I did think that he would be good though, especially under the guidance of Hughes again. The part at the bottom about Diakite is a more important issue though. I'll be relieved when he puts pen to paper.
What is it with me? I thought Barton was a good idea right up until the City mayhem. Been thinking the same about Ireland too. When he's hot he's HOT but like you say, it's been a while since he was knocking bits off me telly! Maybe it's his age that attracts me. Won't be many prem-experienced 25 year olds that'll be interested in joining us. You'd have to question the quality and mental state of those that would. A nut-job you say? Hmmm.
Egotist that is wasting his talent. We do not want this type of character at the club. More interested in bling and staying in Robbie Williams house in LA.
Mental case. Loves himself. There would be no disciplinary probs with him just very inconsistent on the pitch. I still think he is very capable and some club might take a risk on him, just hope it's not us.
SWP was a Man City fans Player of the Year, Stephen Ireland was a Man City fans Player of the Year. Enough said!...
Well he'll fit in on here then anyway! And he sounds just the job for us - we can't have too many of these boring old f*rts we been linked with lately in our squad.
I liked Play and 18 but don't get his dancier stuff. Oh wait, that's Moby -I always get them confused. He was It's best player before the cash arrived and, hideous pink Land Rover thing aside, I don't see him as being that nutty. Might come good again so, for me, it's dependent on getting him at a decent price.
I thought nutters and QPR were always a good fit! He's a welcome addition if he comes, let's face it no clubs wanted to give Stan a chance back in the day.
Have had a sneaking suspicion on this one. 25 y/o, certainly has been capable. Years ahead of him. Probably like our club, he needs a stable period and focus on football and moving forward. Could work with MH's guidance - the fact that MH hasn't 'snapped' him up and he is 'thinking it over' may be the clue that all things aren't right with the player! A quandary!!
